Morales, even at his peak, always fought up or down to the level of his competition. That's why he had a lot of wars with B-level opponents.
I don't mean to talk bad about Chi. He was a very tough guy and fought his heart out against Erik. But Erik clearly won the fight, and he would've dominated the fight if he had the sane razor sharp focus he had in the first fight with Pacquiao.
Morales-Chi is a great hidden gem fight though. It was an undercard fight on a Roy Jones PPV.
IMO this fight and his fight with McCullough are two of Morales' most underrated performances
I agree that Morales got into some unnecessary wars but I dont think the Chi fight was one of them.
It was Chi's dirty, relentless style that took him to the brink. Eric couldnt box him either way cuz Chi kept coming and coming like a Korean Jason.. Eric was forced to throw everything at him but the kitchen sink yet this lunatic wasn't going anywhere.. Chi forced him into that type of firefight imo..
Chi was limited but dude was relentless and had a chin that put Margarito to shame.. I still can't forget his wars with Michael Brodie and Eichi Sugama..
It's sad how his career turned out...
Chi was limited but he was a very tough guy with a hell of a chin, so he wasnt an easy fight for any1.
Chi had wars over here with Brodie.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Chi-Brodie 1 was criminal and you guys know it... It was a heist job in a special way too...
Just like a true warrior though, he went back to England and took what belonged to him...
It was movie-like...
Thought the first fight was close and a war, if you want to talk robbery that was Brodie against Jorrin!
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
I say it was criminal because of the way the judges handled the verdict..
They announced Chi as the winner then changed their mind later to a DRAW..
Doesnt that seem fishy to any of you??
Chi got sheisted bigtime away from home but it was somewhat expected.. It's not the first time..
