So I have just started going to a gym to do kickboxing and have just found out they also do normal boxing which I have just restarted(done it when I was like 15 for 8 months and be taught a few things by my dad)
Now I am getting taught by an ex pro boxer but when I asked him today if they ever have any speical days when you can have proper spars with people he said most people who come to this jsut do it for fittnes.
But I think am "ok" at normal boxing and I wouldn't mind trying to get into amateur fights in the futer when I have re mastered a few skills and improved my foot work a lot.
But how would I go about doing this, would I have to go to a gym what only trains boxers (there are a few gyms in my city, some by my house who have had a few pro fighters)
Or can I get taught by this traniner and learn my self a few things and enter fights by my self ?
Depending on what happens with this kickboxing I may go that route if I can get the hand of all this kicking stuff (not that good yet but Ive only been 4x )
But I would prefare to do boxing as it feels more natural to me.
Any way any tips ?
btw I am going to ask my kickboxing teacher about this as well as he did mention something about they are starting special days for guys who want to compete.
note-I know that I have only just started and I wouldn't expect to be able to enter any proper fights until about the end of the year when I have greatly improved my skills.Am not one of them guys who comes into the gym for the first time and thinks they're rocky hahaha
edit-btw am from england if that makes any difference.
