Default Kell Brook vs Carson Jones Discussion I Know Im Late

Just caught up on this this, i was shocked how much Kell Brook struggled. I haven't really heard of Carson Jones, but i don't know he kept getting stunned and coming back so quickly. Atleast 2 or 3 times it looked like he could be stopped, but he would comeback out of nowhere it reminded me of Evander Holyfield.

This fight showed Kell Brook isn't one of the very elite names, a good fighter with good skills. But he won't be challenging the big boys of Welterweight division, im not really sure who i'd match him with right now. I think he has to be matched very carefully from here on, but i think a fight with Amir Khan makes sense.

I'm guessing from what's been said by Hearn that Brook didn't train as hard as he could have.

In the first half of the fight it was all Brook. Good power, good speed. The stamina was not there which can only mean he didn't train hard enough. Having his nose smashed in wouldn't have helped his breathing. Lucky for him he had built up a big enough lead to scrape the win.

He might have struggled but it allowed his chin to be tested, he might not have been in with an elite fighter but he answered questions that night. He can tough it out, he can dig deep when it's all going wrong, he can fight through a broken nose, he can survive when he's tired.

Better to have to answer those questions against Jones than someone like Mayweather.

It's the sort of test Khan could have done with as he was moving towards a title instead of fighting the likes of an old, overweight Barrera and Oisin Fagan and the rest.

Rather see a talent like Brook struggle like he did, get the win and bank the experience, he might need to draw on that again one day. It's boxing, Jones, whatever his record had improved massively of late and came to win. Good fight and will stand Brook in good stead in the future.

I thought Brook did well but clearly faded stamina wise. He was still bang at it really against NDou after. I was impressed with Carson Jones.

I'll bet there won't be many to worry about with his own stamina at Welterweight that will apply pressure through 12 like he did and take the shots he did. Only other pressure fighter like that I'd say would be Jan Zaveck, and his face falls apart, so he'd be stopped. No Margo and no Williams. Who else with pressure like that at 147. Maybe Maidana or Matthysse if he came up?

I thought Brook tired because of the injured nose and not eating correctly.

Brook has always been a lazy twat, and his poor attitude to training has been an issue from day dot at Ingle's gym.

Reminds me of Naz in that respect.

Don't be fooled by a boxers phisical shape. The more toned muscular fighters tend to fade like pascal for example, it's due to the muscle build etc

Looked brilliant early, but faded bad reminded me of khan - maidana fight. I know Jones was a big puncher but Brook was shook to his boots on quite afew times and is just to easy to hit for my liking and if that fight was 1min longer he would of been stopped. He did show he has the fighting spirt and a good heart to deserves credit for that.

A better example would be Bruno, but Brooks is not that musclebound.

I agree with you guys Kell Brook showed us something he hasn't before, but what i was really getting at. Is that can he challenge any of the top guys based on that performance ? i'll be honest i don't really know much about Carson Jones, but isn't he like a B level fighter ? this was a life and death struggle for Kell Brook, so how will he cope with an elite fighter ?

But saying that i just looked at the rankings, and the division is more wide open than i first thought, Mayweather, Pacquiao, will be retired soon. Andre Berto is no longer a threat after being caught cheating, Victor Ortiz has suffered a damaging loss and no one knows if he will ever be the same. So maybe its not all bad for Kell Brook in the future.

Early in his career he parted with Ingle after Ingle chucked hi out for not training. He went to Hobson, before coming back with his tail between his legs. The fact that he's been arrested drunk at clubs in the small hours of the morning the week of fights says it all
