Apparently it'll either be Kessler or Bute in the fall, so don't expect a Ward rematch this year. I can't understand what the hold up with Kessler is. They'd pretty much agreed money and the fight being in the UK. I'm disappointed. Just hope Carl doesn't train feeling unmotivated for this.

I thought this sounded like posturing by Eddie Hearn to motivate Kessler's people to make the fight on better terms. Maybe Hearn couldn't secure the exemption though?

That's a shame, if this is the case we definitely won't be seeing the Froch-Ward fight for a while. I'm pretty sure Bute will get in another fight or two and then would call for the rematch with Froch. Froch will be getting older by this point and might start to fade?

I think the longer Froch puts himself of eventually fighting Ward the better for him. He will have a tough fights with the mandatory, Kessler and Bute in Canada so this year will keep him rich and busy. Either way I think the Ward fight is for next year.

stevenson is his mandatory i am quite sure... i also thought that this was a plan by whichever governing body made him number 1 contendor to get the belt back to bute S:.. make some canadian mandatory and threaten to strip froch of the belt if he don't fight him when froch is on the doorstep of some big money fights v kessler and ward again S:..... strip froch so stevenson and bute fight for the vacant title and then bute can win and go back into hiding in canada.... but froch has blocked this plan by taking the fight S: errrr this makes sense in my head anyway..

Nah. I said from the start maybe not as often here that Kessler has lost the edge. He doesn't have it anymore and I could see it when he exited the tourney. With all his bravado and agreeing to the 2 mil a piece and going to Nottingham bla bla bla. He knew dam well all along that Froch had a mandatory coming up and if he would have agreed to fight Froch that it would have most likely been postponed given Froch agreeing to fight Stevenson within 90 days after Kessler should he have won. I predict that Kessler will not fight an elite fighter at 168 and will either retire after a variety of pastry chefs with his trinket or move to 175 for some other weak trinket.

If Froch is half as good as he was against Bute this'll be a comfortable fight.

He should make Stevenson miss for 3 round before he starts dropping his lunging hook on him.
