Boy do I hope so. I hate Broner and his idiocy. Pull that flashy cocky shit in the east end of Glasgow where I am now and someone will stab you in the face.

I really hope he gets done in this fight.

Gavin good enough to make it a Calzaghe v Lacy 2?

    What's your thoughts guys?

Broner can be a dick but enough to warrant stabbing in the face ? Purlease, and this from the guy castigating another poster for calling Eubanks Jr an annoying boy. Rees is no Calzaghe and Broner is better than Lacy. It would be refreshing to see Gavin shut Broner up and require his Dad to get on his knees to brush his precious hair but I dont think it will happen. Never say never though, this is boxing.

That poster makes threads about people he doesn't like. Which I personally feel is dumb.

This is about the fight. Face stabbing aside.

Rees has a bullet jab for his frame.

    How old are you?

    Pathetic attitude.

Floyd and broner know this annoying attitude sells but lets respect what they do in the ring.

Rees is no calzaghe and broner might look a bit like lacy but the skillset is like chalk and cheese.

Yeah quite an immature attitude again, even i never said anything about stabbing eubank! Broner is no lacy and reese is no calzaghe. And yes broner is very annoying but backs it up to the hilt. Good luck to gavin good kid but i see him being stopped 4-6 .

right I'm not ashamed to say I am well and truly losing track of the state of the fight game - blame TV as we quite often don't get to see fighters these days unless you got all the channels.

Anyway I never seen Broner fight and I only seen Rees a couple of times.

    So my question

Rees is 10/1 - is he worth a punt or is this a ridiculous mismatch ??

    thanks

He is ten to one for a reason. Rees is not renowned as a puncher although he has stopped a few. His best hope will be to pile on the pressure and get right in Broners face, throwing plenty to the body and using his strength to make him uncomfortable on the inside, a bit like Hatton early on in the Mayweather fight, but we all know what happened there, and Broner can bang too, so Gavin is danger of being walked onto something if he is too gung ho. You never know but if you can get good odds on Rees still standing at the end of round twelve that may be more realistic and even that is a long shot.

If you're only getting 10/1 on him then you may want to take a look around and see what the other bookies are offering. I heard talk that the bookies over in the states have him anywhere up to an 33/1 outsider, but I doubt you'll get that from the bookies over here.

About 15/1 is the best I can find with a cursory glance on oddschecker.

I'd much rather see a Kostya on Judah chicken dance but it won't happen Im afraid.

Besides Broner might actually enjoy the simulated Brokeback Mountain moment Joe has pulled and who needs that

Yea was 19/1 with Pinnacle but money will come for him in Britain and will shorten the odds. If u had to have a bet and don't like short prices I'd take Broner on points at 13/2 instead of Rees to win. Personally I'm staying clear as I reckon it will be a first half stoppage and odds no goo here

The ONLY similarities are that Rees is from Wales and Broner is from the US. For a better comparison with a Welshman fighting an American, look no further than when Gary Lockett made the trip over to face Kelly Pavlik in 2008, and Kelly Pavlik blew him out of the water in three rounds. Like his trainer was when he faced the Ghost from Youngstown, Lockett, Rees is a good domestic-level pug, facing a world-level talent in Broner. The sole reason this fight is getting attention at all is because Broner is in it. Otherwise, it belongs on ESPN FNF. It's a total mismatch. It won't go more than 4 rounds. Mark my words.

Please don't take that as any disrespect for Rees. Credit to him. He's coming to the USA to fight a p4p-type fighter. He also seems like a good dude and hopefully he makes a pretty penny for this fight.

I hear you man, I really do! You are going to have to face the facts though, Broner is almost as good as he thinks.
Rees is good with no big, glaring faults, but he's not at the same level as Broner.
Broner's "low class attitude" act and sideshow antics really does make the "Glasgow Option" appealing, but it's an act. I've gotten to where I enjoy the act until they start talking about respect.
    Broner by late TKO.

I think Rees is a harder puncher than his record suggests. Look at his results after he moved down to lightweight (after his prize fighter stint) out only Andy Murray has taken him the distance and he was an undefeated fighter and Rees won that one very comfortably.

I think the 5 weeks training and sparring with young hungry fighters in the Bronx will have done Rees the world of good and he will be very sharp! Broner will have to work here and hopefully Rees doesnt give him any room to breath.

He is tough to take. Even as a fan I wanted to punch him in the face during the press conference.

You never know I suppose as piss tank Merchant would say its the theatre of the unknown but it looks grim for Gavin, I just cant see him getting to Broner behind that shoulder and wide stance but if he can get him to move to either side he could make it interesting. I suspect a towel to be thrown into the ring about midway after Gavin puts in a game performance.

Not a good comparison because he lost. Idiot.
