Default Price vs Thompson the "KO"

Not much of a KO really, just a little freak shot from Thompson to Price's left ear that perforated his eardrum and fucked up his equilibrium. Thompson just caught Price with a one in a billion shot, I don't believe this necessarily says much about Price having a weak chin. If I were Price i'd see about getting a rematch ASAP.

yeah i agree, cant really call price chinney until he's cracked on the chin. The shot was a freak one right behind the ear, balence totally went, nothing you can do. Its a huge upset but hopefully he'l learn from it.

Price may or may not be chinny but evidently he has a lot of air between his ears. That shot really messed him up. Very similar to the shot Stiverne landed on Austin.

I'd like to see an immediate rematch and I also think that Price desperately needs it.

Not only has his unbeaten record gone in humiliating fashion, he's now seen by a lot of people (including future opponents) as having no punch resistance. If he is to be taken seriously, he's got to avenge this loss and quickly.

If they just put him him back in with another fat British journeyman, people aren't going to buy it.

After last night, I'm far from convinced that Price is anything other than an overprotected hype job who can't cut it beyond domestic level.

    Prove me wrong Pricey.

It was pretty fugly. Glass ear or on the chin the result remains the same. I'm not prepared to call him a bust but shit just got real as they say. His next fight will mean more than anything hes done prior and it shouldn't be against some set up man. I'd press for rematch with Thompson right away.

price got too big for his boots thought he could walk through him and had his hands down

the same mistake has been made many many times (david haye v carl thompson is the first that comes to mind)

price had no respect for thompson and paid for it

it doesnt suggest he has a weak chin so much but it is a bit worrying, i will be interested to see what happens next time he gets hit

Chin alludes to overall punch resistance to the head. Heavyweight boxing is tricky and Tony is a big guy with some pop, but it for sure proves that he doesn't have an iron chin.

I still can't believe he lost to Tony Thompson.

Not many of the big lanky guys have great chins historically speaking and at any given weight class. Sure there are a few that were MORE durable than others, but now that were really great in the punch resistance department.

I think an immediate rematch is kind of silly for a few reasons. #1 Thompson will want to cash in on this win and that more than likely means a fight vs Fury at this point. #2 Price will need to regroup and get his mind right...a loss like that can really knock your confidence through the floor. #3 Thompson knows he can hurt Price AND Thompson has decent defense & a good chin, Price knows this as well AND will have terrible confidence in a rematch due to how he lost to just up and throw him back in with a dude that hurt him that bad is a poor management decision.

If Price wants revenge he'll have to earn it over time. Fight another southpaw, get used to the stance and get your confidence back up to snuff & THEN fight Thompson. Allow Price 1-2 fights before trying Thompson again. Watch how Wlad dismantled Thompson (twice) & use that as a blueprint, that's Price's best chance to get back in the mix.

David's career is by no means over, but it's taking on water and he's got to fix this pretty quick if he's to salvage it. He could easily lose again now that people will have less fear of him, they know he's vulnerable....VERY vulnerable.
