    Default Boxing on uk tv

Looks like Channel 5 may be about to pull the plug.

    http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/...eubank-jr.html

Do you think Big Mick will find another channel or will Fury,Degale and Eubank Jr jump ship?

With The Skelton -McDermott fight being on Loaded TV, Hearn having the Sky monopoly and Warren sticking with Boxnation do you think this is good for Uk Boxing or is it being diluted? God knows what Hatton is going to do with his stable of fighters, they won't all be worthy of a pay per view slot like his last show. (Which was done really shittly anyway. I had to find a stream after paying for it because the feed to the TV was so bad)

The DeGale fight has indeed been postponed so there may be some substance to the rumour that Channel 5 are pulling Boxing. Does that mean Fury-Cunningham will not be shown too ?

channel 5 is a shitty channel so if they are turning their back on boxing then that's not a good sign.

Too many fighters and not enough TV contracts/dates. So now there's Hatton, Fat Mick and Golden Boy all looking for TV dates. Warren would love to make Fury versus Chisora and would probably take a punt on Eubank Junior but they've got existing contracts with the fat man. Who knows what's in the contracts though. Interesting times in the UK boxing business.

Golden Boy has a contract to show their smaller shows exclusively on Premier Sports (Sky Channel 42. I watched Johan Perez vs. Stevie Forbes live on that one. I assume they'll either sign on Boxnation or try and get a bigger deal with Premier Sports.

Fat Mick was also on Premier Sports for a while. Maybed he'll go running back to them.

How much is Premier Sports? Is it worth it?

I do not care if the channel is crap, it was free and on mainstream TV.

So what if she was ugly at least you got some sex, do not complain.

There should always be boxing on free to air terrestrial TV. It's like some veg on your plate, even if your tinned peas are hidden by the Steak it's still there and is good for you. Not that Fury is quite up to a processed peas level quite yet.

Boxing on TV BBC ITV , both had great coverage, I would say we are a lot poorer for the lose of
boxing on theses channels.Sky give you a good fights, well produced in depth programing on boxing
football down side, you have to pay. You have boxnation it's like it's produced, in a tent at the bottom
of the garden, you pay again. Boxing needs ex poser, BBC and ITV gave us this free, will it change
    I don't no, maybe not.!!!!!!!!

I think Calzaghe v Lacy was the last BIG fight I can recall being on terrestrial TV.
That was ages ago and since then absolutely nothing on free TV.
Benn v Eubank etc used to pull in 20 odd million.
Its not the TV stations its boxing or UK boxing in general and the lack of rivals and personalities we now have.
TV networks care about making money and don't give a fuck about boxing or boxers at all.
There's simply no one who's gonna pull in those kind of viewers anymore and Hatton really was the last one with huge pulling power I can think of..
Haye was going in the right direction and Khan a bit too (both widely recognised by the public outside the ring)
Simply put we need some world class domestic fighters to actually get to the top level then fight each other.
Not something that looks likely to happen in the next 5 years and I doubt we will ever see those Days of Benn , Eubank and Watson for a very long Time....if ever unfortunately.
On a side note... The only other HUGE crowd pullers we had were Bruno as the public loved him and Lennox on pure Merit.

What is this a boxing fan forum or a television production judge panel, boxnation has brought some good fights its brilliant having a channel solely for boxing.

It is a boxing Fan Forum in which it would seem perfectly natural to discuss the merits of a television boxing channel. BoxNation could be a lot better for hardcore fans and casual fans. It is a bargian but it doesn't need to look second hand. It could do with a few less filler repeats and some more original programming and other presenters. It would cost money but you need to speculate to accumulate. It may yet happen.

I do agree but solely as a fan of the fights i think its doing well, if im critical of the rest of the channel it doesnt need too much tweeking to be really good
