Default David Price vs Oliver McCall next???

Would this fight make sense for Price next here are my reasons why i think somebody like Oliver McCall would be a great comeback opponent for David Price.

    * McCall's chin is still rock solid - Price will be forced to go the full 10 rounds here where his stamina will be tested. Mentally doing the 10 rounds should do him wonders after gassing after 3 vs Thomson.

*Price will have 10 rounds to work on his technique eg: keeping an aggressive guy away with his jab and being able to move around the ring against a slower opponent.

*McCall still has a "name" if he comes to the UK, the history with Lennox Lewis will also help sell the fight.

*McCall is still dangerous at 48, there is no point getting guys who will last 2-3 Rounds vs Price, McCall will be in the fight until the last bell.

If McCall is not the guy then Price needs to fight durable guys, as i have already mentioned, there is no point in Price blasting somebody out. He needs to work on the things that let him down so badly vs Thompson - Stamina, his jab and his movement. McCall gives him this for 10 rounds and is at 48 a live opponent.

Would you bet against McCall to land a big shot after the Thompson-Price 2 fight? i certainly wouldnt. Lewis also knows a lot about McCall, what better man to train him for the fight

Thoughts please on the above, AND if no McCall, who should Price fight and why??

    cheers

I get the theory that Price needs opponents to help him improve but at the moment the most important thing he needs is confidence.

He just tamely folded after severly shitting himself. I'm not sure clumping McCall, who no man on earth could iron out, is the best way to comeback. What if he gasses after a few rounds? All of a sudden he's staring at another old man bashing him up.

If Price cant knock the guy out , he loses , McCall would beat Price inside 5.

I would love to see Price fight Fury after Haye knocks the Pickey out.

They should have price do what Shannon Briggs did before the Vitali fight.

He had 4 fights in like 5 months leading up to Klitschko (2 of them a week apart) and just destroyed them all in 1 round.

Won't help his technique much but will give him some confidence back.

Fenster thats the thing, if he gasses out vs McCall who is slow and has no workrate then he should hang them up.

If he fights a younger guy and does the same he has more chance of getting hurt.

Its a make or break fight.

ps: on another forum somebody mentioned Holyfield. I think even at whatever age Holy is at he still beats Price, crazy to say but i think its true

David Stamina is his biggest worry. If Price wins a 10 round decision against McCall then in his mind he at least knows he can do the 10....no point in blasting guys out early, he has already done that.

Price needs a fight vs a chinny fighter first. McCall after that would be good though.

I'm not certain he has the ten rounds in him.

Thompson 2 was the biggest fight of his life, he should have been able to do 15 rounds if it meant that much, and he gassed out, but the way he gassed out was terrible because he hadn't done a great deal.

I really like price and I wanted him to be the next big UK HW, but after seeing him against someone with a little bit of ability, it's apparent to me that he's just a big guy with a right hand.

And sadly that isn't enough, even if he fought McCall, I wouldn't have any faith in him fighting say Arreola or Haye or anybody that can punch.

You just don't see managers/promoters/boxing work like this though. They need to rebuild Price with the public. If he has a couple of comeback wins then a McCall-like opponent will be risked.

If Price comes back with a couple of KO wins, all of a sudden the Thompson losses get spun into a "fluke" "bogey man" "learning curve"

i can see what yous are saying guys, but if he cant do 10 rounds then whats the point?

i think he will comeback vs easy guys then take a harder fight, i just cant see him doing much more in the pro game.

his stamina needs tested...McCall is the man for that...best chin i have ever saw in the sport

He's 48-years-old yet I wouldn't give Price, who is clearly a big puncher, a hope in hells of sparking him. ()

His stamina doesn't need testing?! It's been tested and it flunked. Right now Price needs to fall off the map and step out of the media shine. Get his head right for no one but himself, knock off a couple of cans. Right now he has 100 people in his ear telling him multiple things. He's one ko away from being a permanent trivia question.

    He should listen to ME.

Fight Fres Oquendo...decent enough boxer, not great power, dodgy chin....would be quick work. Then get in with someone a little more dangerous, a power puncher with a crap chin, then a guy like a McCall to get rounds in, and then you're ready to get back in the contender line. Fight Fury then.

If I were him I wouldn't touch Fres off back to back kos. Too slippery and poor man cagey. Any oldie is going to go to town studying his gaps trying to bring they're own career back from the dead. McCall is durable and inviting a target a raw nerve guy like Price could again punch himself out and give the old geezer a shot late, as he's known to find.
