I think Iran, which is a fairly large country and powerful regional power unto itself anyway, is not the push over that it's neighbours have been, particularly since I believe they have a sort of alliance formed with Russia and China, the triple pact designed to limit US incursion into the region. Iran possesses the largest stock of sea mines in the world and in the event of war are capable of completely sealing off the Persian Gulf from enemy ships, thereby limiting any US military action to air strike and cross border land invasion with the threat of Russian and Chinese action as well. An unlikely scenario.
Might as well embrace Iran now as a nuclear power as there's F/A America can or rather will do about it except make empty threats and whinge. Without EU and UN backing for an invasion they are in fact, out-mighted by the "Eurasian axis".
