Gotta hand it to crazy Augustus, he came to fight and turned the fight into a brawl. It's funny to see a guy clowning Mayweather and taunting him.

Entertaining fight. Love watching pre-"Money" Floyd...such amazing movement and he mixed it up more.
It never gets mentioned in the who hurt Floyd debates but I think he stunned Floyd quite a bit around 40 seconds into the 3rd. Definitely a fun fight. A bigger punching Augustus would be exactly the type of fighter I'd pick to beat Floyd. He's so damn unpredictable.
Isn't is Emanuel Burton ?
Love this fight, it's one I re watch now and then. Hard to believe this was Floyds last opponent before Corrales, he was much sharper for that. I get a kick out of the venue and production as well, it looks like some low budget pro wrestling show. Believe Floyd was without a major promoter or TV deal at the time. Also, I never hear the actual weight announced for the fight, anyone know? Floyd had never fought above 130 and that's where he fought Corrales of course, but Augustus was 140 basically his whole career.
Augustus was really like Freddie Pendleton in that he had that decieving record that didn't really give an accurate indication of his skill.
I'm a pactard and don't care for Floyd but I can't help to like him when he is in the ring. What a master. he makes opponents pay for missing him, his combos are incredible, damn, I hate the guy
That was the first time I have seen that, it was a good fight. Floys standing more and was quality countering.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Well they say you have to seperate the art and the artist. I dislike Floyd as a person because a lot of what he says and does is very distasteful to me.
But as a boxing fan, you have to love Floyd the boxer, because nobody has done it better than him.
People forget about the fact that Floyd, at the lower weights and before all the hand issues, was actually an aggressive boxer-puncher with a very high KO ratio.
Great fight to watch...
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

It is an amazing movement he has.
Incredible reactions. The way he can land and drop the same shot into his opponents arm and disrupt the opponents counter is masterful. Also that left elbow as a stopper and a deflection tool so he can remain in tight and have his arm still loaded so just he shifts slightly behind the in shots for more power is all genius.
That said Burtons frame is slightly smaller and Floyd is born with a chin and the sharpest reactions so I dont think this guys power ever had him in any doubt so we got to see him put on a show of sorts by remaining on the inside for most of the fight instead of side stepping or disengaging which he is also masterful at if he is leery on some other fighters power specially in early rounds.

Makes me wish Kostya and him met around this era right when Kostya was still a boxer/fighter and chose his timing when to throw a bomb right down the chute and when to brawl or go into fighter mode and when not to, better than he did later on once he chose tough fighter over crafty boxing.
