Do you think Floyd Mayweather will try for the KO against Marcos Maidana, or will he just play it safe and run out the clock for another dull decision win?

I've never seen Floyd actually go out of his way to try and KO anybody. He reacts to what the opponent brings. Hopefully Maidana will press the issue enough to make Floyd become offensive and take chances. Marcos is just wild and unorthodox enough to bring Floyd out of his counterpunching shell. Then again Floyd is not the stupid, vulnerable fighter Broner turned out to be. If Maidana just goes through the motions and plods forward with no plan, it'll be a snoozefest of a fight. If he presses the action, we may see a TKO, although not necessarily in Maidana's favor.
I figured floyd would go for the KO as soon as this fight became official. Floyd is in need of a KO victory and maidana is the perfect candidate. He's taking enough heat for taking this easy fight so I know he wants to make up for it with a spectacular KO victory.
Floyd is going to pick him apart and stop him through accumulation of unanswered punches. That's what I'm betting on. I've been thinlking about the outcome for awhile as to when the fight will get stopped.
I plan to wager big on this fight but I just need to figure out when the stoppage will come.
I expect this fight to resemble the Gatti fight except it'll just be a little more competitive.
Floyd by TKO.
Good question, I have never wondered if Floyd would go for a KO, it's just not the way he fights. Floyd looks at them for a couple of rounds and then starts picking them apart, if the KO happens it happens but Floyd dosen't normally set out to get a KO.
In Maidana's case I'm not sure, after all Maidana did beat up his bud, Mr Broner. I don't think anyone will ever know, for sure, what is going on in Floyd's mind but this time he might be thinking about a humiliating KO of Maidana.
If ever there was an opportunity for Floyd to score a KO, it is in this fight.
He should at least get a knockdown.
Maidana is a warrior, and has tremendous courage and good power. However, he is fairly slow and quite open to punishment.
We'll see if Floyd is content to be as good as Khan or better.
It'd be great if Maidana hits the lotto, but he's really up against it in this one. I think he's a big, big underdog.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I think a decision as always, the only person with a slender chance of being stopped is Floyd. I criticise Mayweather a lot as I think he is a ducking cherrypicker, but I respect his skills and boxing brain. He will try to win all the rounds he needs and won't fight like a hot head looking for elusive stoppages.
Every fight is different and floyd has shown to fight accordingly. With Southpaws for instance, he walks them down behind a high guard and fights very aggresively.
I know the gatti fight was years ago but he was all offense in that one because he knew nothing was going to come back at him. Is Maidana any better than Gatti? I doubt it.
Same thing against mosley. Floyd getting rocked probably had triggered his aggression but he knew mosley was a one trick pony which was why he got into offensive mode.
There is no reason why floyd wouldn't face maidana with the same mindset.
Floyd will be very aggressive in this fight, aiming for the KO.
Don't know nor care
Maidana has never been stopped and I'm sure a defense first fighter will not be the one to do it.
It depends. If you ask his wallet, It says KO. If you ask his hands, they might feel late in the fight, that they've already done enough work and an injury isn't worth the risk.
He's not really a body puncher but if he focuses there, Maidanas been known to be a little soft there in the past. Body shot KO's can be impressive too.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

That will be for Maidana to decide. Many guys stop fighting to avoid the reply. Floyd won't chase a KO but if you keep coming he'll continue to make you pay. If Maidana is prepared to go out on his shield he probably will. If Maidana gets discouraged he'll probably go the distance.
"Floyd why did you not go for the knock out?"
"because my hands hurt"
"Floyd, did you win the fight?"
"Yes, by any means possible".
I love to see floyd throw a few more combos but it just doesnt happen.
He moves, he picks shots and he defends..it just works.
As long as he wins, im happy.
If he starts going for the ko then he leaves himself more open than usual..why should he risk that and risk his health even more.
Great boxer beats a great fighter every time.
Interesting take. I like Floyds style but whether he wins or loses doesn't effect me. Perhaps it's because my favorite fighters of my youth always seemed to lose their biggest fights. That used to crush me. Now I'm more concerned with the fight than the outcome of the fight.
Floyd will win on points that is his priority to keep the money rolling. If he steps it up he could stop Maidana but I doubt he will. The most aggressive I have seen Floyd fight recently was against Cotto because he was determined to get a stoppage and pressed the action and took chances. He only did that because he knew Cotto was damaged goods. I hope and pray Maidana lands the big punch.
