It actually was interesting. I originally thought it was going to go off on a Bahia rampage until I saw it wasn't written by Ron Price or Brock but it had the right heading.
Here's the YouTube link courtesy of the LibraryArchiveCanada:
Wow, select 720 HD or 1080 HD, put it on fullscreen, very clear footage!
Yeah that's a great story and amazing find.
What happened?
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Oh yeah, you're from across the pond, eh..
I'm not even a baseball fan, but most folks in the USA and many here in Canada are aware of the 1919 pro baseball Black Sox scandal where one team conspired to throw the World Series in exchange for money from gamblers.
For those Yanks, Baseball is the national pastime, and to them it's unforgivable that a team at the pinnacle of the sport, The World Series, would throw the game for money.
8 players were banned from baseball for life.
I don't understand why anyone would be surprised at that, it's a Capitalist society, for $#!t's sake !!!
Hollywood films have been made about it, novels, songs, tv specials.
Anyway, in 1978, a pile of old news reels were found preserved in permafrost in Dawson City, Yukon. The Black Sox scandal film has been sitting in Gatineau, Quebec. With hundreds of news reels, I guess the Canadians just didn't realize what they had there.
Very cool find indeed, and very good call by walrus lol, it really does read just like a Ron Price thread at first glance![]()
That was great! Right now there are 101 baseball "fans" ranting about todays MLB being superior, cheater freeand laughing at their humongous pants though
Awesome footage..better history. Thanks.
