The actor Robert Conrad- of The Wild Wild West fame- managed Crawford. Conrad fancied himself a tough guy and a fighter. He gave an interview in which he said that he - considering that Crawford was a pro but Conrad heavier- would beat Crawford in a fight. They frequently sparred and Crawford, riding the gravy train, would let Conrad go along. Right after the interview, which crawford overheard, the pro kicked the actor's ass. He told Conrad "Don't ever say you can kick my ass." Solid pro fighter, world ranked for a spell, later murdered.
