Default Scott Quigg sets up Paulus Ambunda title defence

Scott Quigg will defend his WBA world super-bantamweight title against Namibia's Paulus Ambunda on 13 September in Manchester.
Quigg, from Bury, is unbeaten in 30 fights, having won 28 and drawn two.
The 25-year-old beat Tshifhiwa Munyai in April and will be making the fourth defence of his crown.
Ambunda, an ex-WBO world bantamweight champion, holds the WBA and IBF international titles. The 33-year-old has won 21 of 22 bouts and lost once.
Quigg's promoter Eddie Hearn said: "Scott is in scintillating form and ready to stamp his authority on the division."
Lightweight Anthony Crolla will be fighting on the same card when he takes on former WBC super-featherweight champion Gamaliel Diaz.

Lol stamp his authority on the div by beating a guy in his 2nd fight in the div. That been said its not a bad fight. Ambunda is a decent fight and his one defeat is a decision lost to a very good Japanese fighter. Id have prefered to see him in against a genuine top 15 super bantom like Chris Avalos or Jhonathan Romero

Allow him to make some defences, make some money, generate interest and then fight the top champs.

Hes world champion, he doesn need to be fighting fighters who are nowhere near world class. He did enough of that on the way up to champion.

Could you imagine the stick we would be giving Martinez as a world champion if he was fighting guys like this instead of guys like Frampton, Mathubela and Hasegawa

    Fighters like having easy fights.

This opponent isnt that bad and is a big step up for him. But a fucking world champion shouldnt be stepping up he should be only fighting world class opponents. This is only Ambundas 2nd fight at the weight, his 1st against a nobody in Namibia. Quigg is a big super bantom. Its hard to see this being competitive. Quigg is young but this is his 29th fight and hasnt beaten anyone of note. His best win is against a shot Rendall Munroe. For me he is still only a european level fighter and has doen nothing to prove his world class. If you compare this to the guys Kiko, Rigo and Santa Cruz have fought its shocking. Even Framptons opponents have been far better in Kiko, Molitor (he was shot) and Hirales. Even Cazares is better than what Quigg is facing.
