Fairgrounds Arena ~ Boise, Idaho
Alejandro Lavorante >
The handsome, athletic and hard-punching Argentinian who's fast rise was like a 'Rocket to the Moon'.
George Logan >
The Boise Brawler who was labeled 'The Toughest Cat in the Midwest'.
The Skinny
Alejandro had been campaigning on the West Coast, and Manager - Paul 'Pinky' George had his fighter
on a busy campaign. Alejandro had fought an incredible '9-Times' in 1961, and this would be his '10th' time
in the Ring.
There had been some concern that 'Pinky' George was burning up his fighter. Too many bouts without
a long-period of rest.
Alejandro had burst upon the scene when he scored a 'major upset' {KO 7} over #3 Ranked Zora Folley
6-Months earlier {May 11, 1961}.
After the 'upset' over Zora Folley, Manager 'Pinky' George had been trying to secure a Heavyweight Championship
bout with Floyd Patterson but with 'no luck. Alejandro {Alex} was now ranked #4 NBA and #8 Ring Magazine
as of December 1961.
Paul 'Pinky' George >
"It looks like Floyd will hide out for awhile. He doesn't want to face us. Well, I'll just keep 'Alex' busy in the
meantime. Eventually Floyd will have to fight us."
"I'm not concerned about Alex's opponent George Logan, but I am concerned about the Officials. I want to be
assured of 'fair scoring', and none of this Idaho Potato stuff that I've heard about. It should be a terrific fight,
but 'Alex' is the cream-of-the-crop between the two, and should win going away."
