Default How do you rank Martin Murray as an opponent for GGG?

Is Martin Murray the same quality, better than, or worse than the competition GGG has faced so far in his career, such as Rubio, Geale, Macklin, Stevens, Proksa, Adama, Rosado etc.?

Hard to say. Each fighter has different attributes but I think Murray has it in him to make Golovkin work harder for the stoppage, inevitable though it may be. He seems bigger and rangier, though that might not be true and he has fought world class opposition before, both times giving a great account of himself.

Murray is strong and tough , his lack of power and his durability will make for a very painful night ending in a KO.

I just think that the possible chink in Golovkin's armour about not having been taken to the championship rounds won't turn out to be an issue. GGG is very professional and technically very good, something that is overlooked because of his power. He's also a bit of a stalker and by the later rounds (if it gets that far) Murray will have had to swallow a lot of leather . Absorbing punches is way more tiring than punching people.
I'm not saying he won't land some of his own, but I also think GGG can take a dig. that was proved in the Geale fight. When he threw the knockout blow, Geale also hit him with a peach of a punch that had no impact whatsoever. So he can get hit and is human.
I don't like getting too down on Murray's chances because like I said before, I really like Murray and applaud the fact that he doesn't think twice about taking the fight. That in itself gives him more credit than most in the divison. He could arguably win a title against some of the other champs, so the best of luck to him.
However , the facts are the facts and I don't understand how people can doubt GGG's ability. I think it's because the media go a little bit overboard, but he's a very exciting talent.
I really hope Murray proves me wrong, and even if he doesn't , I hope that one day he does pick up a title.

I read a bit of the article and i agree with the bit i read, murray needs his hands up and needs to be moving forward

and he needs to throw punches in range, even shorten the range

i think he can impress if not win

Putting it bluntly - I think Murray has looked crap since the Sergio fight and i'm now convinced his great performance was down to Sergio being shot-to-bits. He's probably tougher/better/smarter than the other Golovkin victims but he won't offer much in danger to him.

Murray is a capable fighter and the best guy who will get in the ring with GGG. That being said, he doesn't last the distance. GGG just puts on so much pressure, and he is so controlled and relaxed that he doesn't wear himself out. His fights truly are a science as he patiently stalks behind a jab and either takes the guy apart or lands the one big shot. Either way, he's stopping u.

being fair to murray, it obviously wasnt a pomp sergio but it was a while before the fight with cotto and closer to his good performances, and murray was away from home in a country that is less than in love with the english

Murray doesn't really impress me at all, he's easy prey for Golovkin and will be stopped mid way.

He never seems to get out of second gear and just plods about and has his moments sometimes firing off half hearted non sustained attacks.

    Golovkin will completely destroy him.

I thought Murray could have nicked that fight, I was impressed by his attitude and his performance, but I now think it's pretty obvious the injuries were hampering Sergio bigtime.

I don't think Golovkin will blast him out early, but being a non-puncher, and one-paced, Murray will have to go some to get a sniff of beating him.

Sergey Khomitsky (better than his record suggests), who he struggled with twice, turned him into a staggering drunk in their first fight.
