    Default What happened to Froch?

At first I didn't like this guy because of his mouth. But then he kept fighting top guy after top guy and I started to root for him.

But now, here he has his opportunity to rematch Ward, which he should have wanted all these years, and Ward is willing to come to London but that isn't enough? That looks weak. The whole Nottingham or no fight way of getting out of the fight isn't the way a warrior should finish up his career.

As a Froch fan I agree with this. London, Nottingham ..,whenever in England is a massive advantage he should take the fight if it's in London.

I tend to disagree. I really don't see the point in this rematch and I don't understand the desire for it. Ward won hands-down last time around. What will change in the rematch? Ward should move up and face the beasts at 175.

This board has decided Froch is the top guy and Ward must prove he still belongs. So both guys have an opportunity at "get back". Ward to get back to his place on top. And Froch has a chance to get a victory over his conqueror. He won't win but he should want the opportunity.

Ward doesn't need to prove anything. If you honestly think that Ward doesn't belong with the best at 168 or 175, we might as well be watching a different fighter. He beat the best competition at 168 over two years ago and the division is made up of the same combatants now. He has nothing left to prove at 168. He's universally ranked as no. 2 pound for pound. He should consider moving up in weight and facing Stevenson or Kovalev for all the marbles at 175. He's 30 years old and shouldn't waste his prime.

The only exception to that is if Andre Dirrell beats James DeGale because that fight was supposed to happen years ago and Dirrell retired before it could take place.

The Froch fight is not even a fight worth discussing. Froch is the second best super middleweight during his reign in the division. Nothing to be ashamed of as Ward would likely do well against the division's best from yesteryear. Nothing would change in a rematch between them and I'm sorry if that offends you.

Frankly, Froch should move up in weight too if he wasn't planning on retiring.

I would have agreed if it came up 2 years ago but would have argued for it just to see Ward leave home. I dont think its the same kind of rematch now though and especially in that crazy house across the pond. Ward should have jumped up after the S6 like he said he was going to do but instead went on strike because there was nobody left at 168 and the pressure was starting to mount for him to do something. We dont know how much that sit out effected him and we wont know until he gets in with someone that has a prayer. Carl has nobody left either and I doubt he fancies moving up. The money fight is Chavez but its also meaningless. Plus its unclear if the guy could even make 168.

I'm not trying to defend Ward, but he was fighting with Goossen which didn't help with anything.
Froch has said more than once he wants to fight in Vegas before he retires. I'm thinking he has earned a Vegas fight and is serious.

I'd just be chilling out as well if I were him, he's had enough of a run and if he only plans to fight once more anyways the rest couldn't hurt. Don't think many people really expect a Ward rematch would go much differently or be a great fight, and would it even bring in more money than any other he might hope for?

Chavez Jr-Fonfara is a pick em, but if Jr wins that it would be a no brainer for Froch to push for it.

Answer - He still wants Junior in Vegas. He doesn't want Ward , second Losses , to a guy who hasn't fought in over 2 years doesn't look good for his "Legacy"

I suppose I just see things different than most everyone. Thread after thread I argue why people should take tough fights and people argue why they shouldn't. What made me a fan of Froch wasn't that he won all fights, I think he clearly lost to Dirrell as well. What made me a fan was that he wanted the tough fights. But this ending run is a disappointment to me.

For the record I apply the tough fights thing to all.

I'm a Floyd fan(the fighter not the man) who desperately wanted to see him fight Winky when it was proposed.

I want to see GGG challenge Ward.

I want to see Froch challenge Ward.

I want to see Ward challenge GGG then Kovalev.

I want to see Kovalev vs Stephenson, Ward, then Beterbiev

If Floyd beats Pac I want to see him go out challenging for the MW title against GGG or Quillen

I have the guys I root for like anyone else but more than I want an outcome I want the fights. I could go on and on Frampton/Rigondeaux Quigg etcetera. Tough fights, make them all!!!

The tough fights up top even make the guys coming up more exciting because you imagine them matched against the top guys. Now as I watch a prospect I only think of how they will be maneuvered to make it look like they are great. The energy is drained from top to bottom when the hard fights aren't made up top.

Good post. I don't disagree with it other than we already saw Froch and Ward have a tough fight when they fought each other three years ago. And, as we saw then, Froch isn't a tough fight for Ward, even if Ward is for Froch.

So, while I get why you might want to see Froch take it, I don't understand why you would want to see Ward take it. I imagine that you must think that Ward would have a tough fight against Froch this time around, and I simply disagree. Styles make fights and Ward's style is wrong for Froch. I'll bet my signature Ward dominates Froch again.

If Junior beats up Fonfara, I actually like the idea of a Froch-Junior fight in Vegas. It'll be fun viewing for what it's worth.

If we're talking about tough fights for Ward, I'd prefer to see Dirrell against Ward. And above 168, I would like to see him against Kovalev, Stevenson and Beterbiev. I don't know if GGG has the size to trouble Ward because it took him longer than I would think to stop Murray and Murray is a large middleweight, but that's not to say that I don't think it's a fun fight.
