Thumbs up Charging for weigh-in tickets next?!

This $#!t's ridiculous. For a past-due fight, 5 years past due, both guys now past it on the backside of 40, yet promoters price-gouging the public every step of the way!

Plenty of actual Boxing fans are not really interested in this expired match at all anymore, but it's the millions of casual fans that don't know $#!t-from-shinola about Boxing that will be tuning in because it's the thing to do that weekend.

Mythbusters has shown us that one can indeed polish and put a shine on $#!t, but when the shine comes off, you'll see that you wasted top dollar for a big pile of steaming $#!t !

Thumbs down to the whole she-bang from me (if it even still happens.)

My position remains the same for months: I won't pay anything for it because it's not worth it, but if I'm not doing anything better that night like maybe pulling my wire to 80s porn, then maybe... maybe I'll tune in to a free live stream.

    ...maybe.

    Who's with me?!

Coincidentally I will be watching 80's porn to stay up and keep me awake for the fight!

Rip off if they charge for the weigh in and I hope no one turns up

I've never attended a weigh-in even for free. Doubtful I would actually pay to go to one.

Its strange that they say all the proceeds will go to charity and the are just using as a form of crowd control. Why couldn't they just say show your tickets to the fight to get a free pass to the weigh in. While supplies last. If anyone deserves to see the weigh in, its those people that are already paying those crazy prices for the fight.

Just comes off strange that this first time that they ever charged for a weigh-in and one fighter just bought a mansion and the other is buying $25,000 mouthpieces.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Thats the worst idea ever. The fans who are going to this are mainly celebs who wont care about the weigh in and rich people who are going to the event because its fashionable, again wont care about the weigh in.

I have no trouble with them charging for the weigh in if the proceeds go to charity. The weigh in for Maidana fight was bedlam, this one be 20 times worse.

It's all going to charity though.

If they can fill the place with people willing to pay, what's the issue? Were you going to be there otherwise?

Of course the thing is way overdue and has lost luster, but any "real boxing fan" who claims they aren't at all interested is just being dramatic.

Why isn't it worth it? you're acting like these two guys are pensioners. They are still by far the top 2 guys in boxing. I'd understand if you made those comments for RJJ v BHOP or JT but not for these two. They aren't that far past it the way everyone is making it out.
Maybe this is the grand build up to your eventual excuse when pac loses and you can say 'I told you he was old'. Neither guy will have an excuse come May 2nd.

Back to the main point of the thread. If the proceeds go to charity then it's fine, their reasoning seems to make sense to me.

They're going to squeeze every cent they can out of this. Everyone is going to try to get their cut. Hotel prices will skyrocket, every high class escort/hooker, pimp, hustler, stick up man, ect are going to be coming out for the weekend because there's going to be a ton of money in that arena for the fight.

It is the principle. 10 bucks is a lot for you when you collect welfare.

This $#!t-show has several built-in excuses for both sides.

Old-school guys wanted to fight the best opponents when they were at their best because those dudes wanted no excuses that they were in fact The Man. Bragging rights counted back then, not stacking the odds which creates excuses. Don't sass me, son, or I'll knock your d!<k in the dirt.

How much of a cut do the undercard fighters get Often a strong undercard is the ONLY reason to shell out money for ppv.
