Almost every fighter I know takes sunday off, a rest day. I run 5 or 6 days a week when I'm getting ready for a fight, and I run atleast 3 days a week when there is no up coming fight.
well im just starting and starting the training soon but i want to get in some shape for it but is that enough running?
If your just starting out I wouldn't run that much, I would start out running maybe every other day followed by some shadow boxing. I wouldn't recommend going from no working out to a heavy workout, start off slow.
ok i do shadow boxing inn rounds i do 12 3 minute sessions i do15 mins punchbag 3x5 mins
and 5x5mins hook and jab pds on top of 100 situps a day and all that running is that enough at the moment?
edit
soz i forgot to add i do
mon- friday 2 miles bike sat 4 miles an sunday 2 miles boke on top of 100 situps hook and jab pads punch basg and running
everyday is usually a little different, but this is what one of my days at the gym would look like. keep in mind, I am an amateur fighter so I wouldn't do as many rounds as a professional.
When I first get to the gym we run, coach usually has us run anywhere between 2-4 miles. when we get back to the gym, we do some sprints. Then we do 4 or 5 rounds of shadow boxing, if its a sparring day we spar 3/4 rounds. if not a sparring day we hit the bag usually 5-8 rounds, each round he calls over a different person from the bags to do mitt work. we end our day with exercises; 50-100 jumping jacks, 50 squats, arm rotations, duck walks, ab workout.
But If we don't have a fight coming up its usually pretty chill, people only show up a few day a week and basically do what they want. they don't train too hard, just enough to stay in good shape.
