    Default pain in wrists

Ok, I know this might be a no brainer question and you guys were complaining about having people like me ask them but I only see my trainer once a week cause of my job, so I wont see him til next week, so you guys are all I got.

Anyways,....ive been boxing for about 3 months, and just recently, i have started getting pains in my left hand, is this from over working on the heavy bag, or from technique or what? I just dont understand cause I think if you improve, you can only get better, right?,,,....so Im not sure why I am all of a sudden getting all of these pains, ill talk to my trainer about it next week but id like to see if anybody else got this problem so I can fix it now before I make it worse. Thanks.

It could be from over working but more then likely its from not hitting the bag the right way. May sure you keep your wrist straight(make sure you do a good job of wrapping your hands), and make sure you keep a tight fist. But no matter how long you box your always gonna get injuries, fights get moved back and canceled all the time because of injuries.

I've had the same thing happen before. I'd suggest, if you can, to lay off the heavy bag for a while and focus on building up your grip strength and forearm strength. It doesn't have to be for long but the break from bag work will let any slight injuries heal.

If you decide that a stronger wrist/hand could help, then a wrist roller, plate loaded hammer and grippers would do a ton of good. Stronger wrist and hands will help keep your joints in line when hitting the bag and avoid injuries.

Get you some wrist-wraps to help your wrist absorb the blow.
