i think it was a plea bargain,
he plead guilty to manslaughter rather then go on trial for murder

This guy really is the lowest of the low. 29 years is being generous. I rember that fight with Richard Grant. That was one of the worst showings of sportsmanship(or lack of) I ever saw from a fighter.

James Butler sounds like a classic psychopath, someone who feels no remorse when they hurt or kill other people. Such people belong in prison, in exile or put to death depending on your philosophy.

In case you're wondering, some of the more clever psychopaths learned at an early age to show "mock" remorse and empathy for the suffering of others. They discovered at an early age that they really didn't give a rat's ass for other people, but they knew that others expected them to have such feelings and they learned to fake it. My father was a psychologist and he told me about such persons.

DA's frequently plead things out so they can get a conviction and avoid the time and expense of a trial. As a retired cop I think it's wrong. Guys like Butler should get the roof dropped on them. The guy's a nut.
