Default Golovkin vs Hopkins - 160

We're talking during the Hopkins reign. I dont see anyway Golovkin wins this fight. Personally i dont think the decline in boxing has been so much a loss of interest, but more of a decline in the skill of the fighters. They just aren't the same. Golovkin is a great fighter, but i feel like we're making pound for pound bests, out of, at best, A- fighters.

I was thinking about this fight the other day, what a great one it would have been.

I don't see how Hop would win. He's very unlikely to score a stoppage, which means he needs to outpoint a man with a far greater output and equal brain. Dodge the Hop right hand, you've beat him.

BHop, that old fox, has fooled everyone before. Most of humanity expected him to get slaughtered by the younger, more powerful Kovalev. Kovalev won, sure.... but BHop walked out on his own power. BHop has also bedeviled a lot of favorite fighters before. I give him a pretty good chance of outboxing and outlanding GGG, at least with what I've seen so far.

Literally nothing you said is true. Equal brain? Where are we getting this from? Personally i haven't seen Golovkin display superior levels of boxing IQ, if you have im open to examples.

I never claimed anything I said was true. You said Hop would beat GGG. Fine. It's a fantasy fight, something that will never happen and something we will never know the result of.

Equal brain? The onus is on you to explain why Hop has a superior brain? I regard them as equal.

If we are talking prime vs prime, then I agree that Hop would likely win and should be favored. It would be a terrific fight, as GGG has great skill, underrated defense and is an offensive juggernaut. That being said, prime Hop was faster, especially with his feet, had great power (in his prime at 160), extraordinary stamina (prime), and one of the greatest chins boxing has seen.

I see Hop boxing behind the jab and using his legs to create angles and set up punching opportunities. GGG is great at parrying and cutting off the ring, so this would make for some great exchanges and a great fight. I see Hop winning a close decision in a great fight. Another great fight would be GGG vs Toney at 160.

GGG is a very underrated boxer and his power would cause B Hop problems. Prime B Hop had some sting in his punches and fit to go at a good pace. Tough call but would go with B Hop.

Bhop has always had trouble fighting somebody with a good jab that stays on the outside and doesn't let him tie up. I think prime bhop wins but has to really dig down deep to win.

Golovkin is a top notch calculator but he does steer into the methodical as he gains more control. Not ponderous or lacking skill but he sets patterns. Granted you're being hammered like a fookin nail at that time but I don't think he come close to being the thinker or have the versatility of a tip top Hopkins. When at any time has he had to adapt, improvise under hard fire or really push past stiff adversity? Hopkins footwork in the corners and along ropes would have Golovkin resetting and losing just a bit of that poker face focus I think. He would do well in those burst attacks and wouldn't sit in for that short but pulverising jab Golovkin owns. He'll of a fight but see Hopkins...not 50 yr old Hopkins...widening down the stretch for an entertaining decision.
