Default Ortiz vs. Jennings- a story of skill!

There is no other way you can classify the win by Luis Ortiz over Bryant Jennings, with Jennings being a very strong, agile and fairly good quality opponent that was ko'd.

This is where a good chin, good power, and GREAT SKILL, with the confidence of 320 plus amateur bouts can bring you, vs. a guy with under 20, good chin, great confidence and all the rest.

Unless there was a lucky punch, it was only a matter of time before Ortiz caught up with Jennings and either hurt him back, stopping his forward movement on the way to an easy UD. OR an all out ko/tko, which we saw last night in their match-up.

Good win for Ortiz. Bad loss for Jennings, as he is BACK to the middle of the pack/middle card fights with the likes of the Molina's, Arreola's, Duhappas, Thompson's and Price's of this world. UNTIL he wins a BIG one... and the BIG ONES are now: Povetkin, Glazkov, Browne, Joshua, Mansour, Pulev, etc... before he can be considered a contender for the title again.

    he is...

He looked to me like he would take a lot of stopping , whoever beats him is going to have to take a lot of punches to come out the winner.
Terrific we have a HW who mixes it up and takes a few , like Ibeabuchi.

I think Ortiz is good to watch too. He throws plenty of punches and can bang. Fucks sake, these boring non-punching heavyweights can all fuck off. I want to see bombs exchanged and chinning merchants when watching heavyweights, as their punch output/skill set/speed can never match normal sized fighters - hence P4P.

Ortiz v Wilder is a natural fight, when will it happen?

I doubt it will ever unless wilder loses his belt to someone and is desperate. Is ortiz even ranked by the wbc or any of the others organisations ? He is wba interim champ afterall.... crap title that isn't even the minor wba title :S

I would assume Ortiz will be next up for the winner of the Chagaev browne matchup and I think he would beat either fairly comfortably, Chagaev seems to have slowed down with his age and is under 6 feet tall afterall. I guess ortiz won't be getting many big fights due to his size, skill and power and his relatively small name unless he works his way to the mandatory spot like he has with the wba belt.

When HBO is behind you then you get fights. He will get his shot if he keeps winning, which I think he will continue to do.

Ortiz fights and punches with his eyes OPEN. He is fully aware of what he is throwing and where. This is what a physically strong and genetically tough person that Ortiz is, coupled with the years and years of Cuban amateur training experience and pedigree can and has done.

Let's hope Ortiz doesn't fall into the Gamboa, Solis, Gonzalez traps of America/"Western" life-- starts eating more hamburgers and cheese fries with the large milkshakes, gets arrogant, forgets his training and principles, and starts playing around with the whores like Gamboa and Broner did/does.

Ortiz will naturally be a challenger with the next 18 months. Who will it be, is the question?

SIDEBAR: Vyacheslav Glazkov and Charles Martin will fight for the IBF HW strap that Tyson Fury dropped. I like both. Good scrap. Keep your eyes open for this one, because it may be something you wished you had seen if you didn't already.

How come I have never noticed Ortiz before? He is dynamite fighter and battered Jennings.

Makes me wonder how bad Wlad was?

I'm not too thrilled with the heavyweight division but Wilder-Ortiz is a natural but can Wilder hit a bigger faster moving target with a good punch or is there another Molina on his agenda? Just asking!

Check out Ortiz' fight with Monte Barrett. It was the first time I saw him and it was impressive as well as sad for ol' Barrett who was one hell of a warrior.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
