I reckon he gave up his title because he thought he could get 1 maybe decent money fights and get out. maybe Saunders, maybe Eubank Jr., maybe Groves. But let’s look at them one by one.
Saunders- not happening, he’s getting DAZN’s money taking on Andrade. They probably led DeGale to believe it was a possibility, but hey ho.
Groves - he probably thought Groves wouldn’t make the WBSS Final and they would have one last hurrah.gross error of judgement. Now if Groves wins, DeGale gets the 10%-15% that he goaded Groves with a couple of years ago. If Groves loses, the value of the fight goes down.
Eubank Jr. - This could still happen, and the stupidity of people means that they will swallow the hype and make both these guys a nice big earner. Pretty meaningless though.
All in all, DeGale is alright, but he’s made some pretty poor commercial decisions in his career. He’ll think he’s done nicely, but if he had become a champion with Matchroom and stayed with them, he would’ve made a shit load.

come on, you know that if DeGale would've fought all those guys over here under Matchroom, they would all be PPV , he would've been hyped up to be some sort of World Beater and would've earned a fortune.
Brook made a killing against GGG, and if he had fought him anywhere else , it wouldn't have been worth his while.
