    Default audley harrison will continue.....NOOOOOOO!!!!!

    Sun 16 Apr, 3:09 AM

Audley Harrison insists he has no intention of hanging up his gloves despite suffering a second successive defeat in California.

A lacklustre Harrison was easily beaten on points by America's Dominick Guinn in a 10-round contest at Rancho Mirage, going down by scores of 98-92 and 97-93 twice to a man who had won only one of his previous five bouts.

Guinn out-worked the former Olympic gold medallist, who was making his first appearance in the ring since his dreadful defeat to fellow Briton Danny Williams in December.

The 30-year-old American was able to score with some frequency to the body and head on the inside and although the fight sparked into life in the last minute of the final round Guinn won a unanimous points decision to cast further doubts over Harrison's future in the sport.

However, a defiant Harrison said: "I've got to re-galvanise myself. Dominick Guinn is a good fighter and I went 10 rounds with him.

"I wasn't hurt at all at any time but I just didn't put my foot on the gas. I'm obviously disappointed but I've just got to go back to the drawing board. This ain't over yet.

"I had a good training camp. The team sacrificed a lot and I sacrificed a lot but I just didn't get the victory.

"I've got to keep working at it. I'm close but I just haven't come over the mountain yet. I'm going to get there. I'll work it out, definitely.

"Guinn is obviously going to move forward and I'm going to move back. I've got to sit down with the team and see where we go from here. But if the mind is willing and the body is able, there will be opportunities.

"Frank Bruno went for world titles three or four times and eventually he got there.

"It's not about lack of talent or dedication. I'm just not getting it right.

"We're going to figure it out but I know I've got to let my hands go more. I came on strong in the end but it wasn't enough," quotes The Sunday Telegraph.

Of course he's not going to retire this is kind of his life and financial well being on the line. However, you won't get me to watch him until he actually commits himself to fighting. I can't describe the frustration you get when you see this guy who is built like the perfect heavyweight, a 6'6 southpaw with a long reach NOT USE HIS JAB! And like I said last night, I wouldn't completely turn my back on him if he abandoned his jab in favor of throwing power shots but NO! There is NOTHING being done in the ring. He just stands there and moves his hands in front of his face and I guess ESPN counts those as jabs? No those are reaches not jabs. He looked like he was trying to comfort Guinn by stroking the side of his face not keep him at bay. The guy's head just isn't in the game. He says it is but it's obvious it isn't. He just stands there and covers up. It's embarrasing. Hell I didn't even like the guy going into the fight but FFS JUST THROW SOME PUNCHES AUDLEY! It was one of the poorest efforts I have ever seen in a boxing ring. He made Andrew Golata look like Jake Lamotta. Embarrasing that that guy has a gold medal to his name.

I've got to gloat a little and say, I have said he was muck from day one, no stamina and no punch, not a great resume for a 18.5 stone Heavyweight. I even thought he was lazy, sluggish, boring and lucky in the olympics!!

Star is right about his people, they're are a horrbile bunch of sycophants - he needs somebody to tell him he is sh1t!!!

He must've known deep down that he hasn't got it, or it wouldn't've taken him 6 years to get to the dizzy height of fighting an over the hill Danny Williams.

A 6'6" southpaw, 18 stone, a good athlete, tons of amateur experience, marketable.

Unbeliveable how he can manage to be quite so bad with all those things going for him.

Comes up short in terms of testicular fortitude, methinks.

I actually feel a bit sorry for Audley. He definitely has the tools to be a world champion, he's skilful, in good shape and has huge height and reach advantages. He could be one of the best in the world but he clearly has a problem with actually fighting in the ring.

The fact that he seems unable to let his hands go must be a confidence thing and I'm sure is even more frustrating for him than it is for his few fans and the rest of the disinterested public who have watched his recent fights.

If I was him I'd definitely get a top class trainer to train me, Joe Goosen who I think has done a good job with Guinn, Steward of Paul McDonnel might make him work a bit harder.

And even more importantly I would see a life coach, Tony Robbins and Paul Mckenna. I'm serious maybe they could help him work on his attidude and change his mindset to feel more confident.

I'd definitely give hypnosis a go with Paul McKenna it couldn't hurt.....

If that fails, then I guess he could go and see Uri Geller.................

The guy seems too nice for the sport of pro boxing, but I'll be darned if I know why it took until he was 34 years old for that to become apparent. Some fighters can't pull the trigger because they're old and washed up (Holyfield) but Audley can't pull the trigger because he's lazy and too friendly. He lacks a killer instinct.

I actually liked the way he fought against Guinn if he would just let his hands go. He wasn't holding, running or doing any of the other things that I don't like in a fighter, he just wasn't busy enough.

Anyway, I agree that he's not through, but he's only got a few good years left as a potential contender. I say that we give him 1 more chance to get his act together. I just can't give up on such a talented guy quite yet, especially if he has the right attitude.
