    Default JIROV RETURNS TO CW

    http://www.fightnews.com/ditusa75.htm

Former IBF cruiserweight champion Vassily Jirov (35-3-1, 30 KOs) returns to action tomorrow night at the Coeur d’Alene Casino in Worley, Idaho against local favorite Luke Munsen (18-4, 13 KOs) in the 10 round main event. Jirov, now based out of Scottsdale, Arizona, brings a wealth of experience and devastating knockout power to the fight against Munsen, who has fought all his bouts in the friendly confines of the Pacific Northwest. For Jirov, it will be a return to the cruiserweight division after a brief stint campaigning as a heavyweight. In Munsen, Jirov faces a flat-footed power puncher who at times finds it hard to get out of the way of incoming power shots. Should this be the case Thursday night, the fight may be a short one as Jirov has amassed a KO ratio of over 90%.

Also on the card welterweights Favio Medina (9-1-2, 5 KOs) takes on Danny Brownson (4-1, 1 KO) in an eight round battle between two hard-punching Idaho prospects.

Seattle’s Alejandro Lozano faces Nalo Leal in a 140-pound rematch, and popular cruiserweight Billy Drywater faces the always tough TBA.

Rounding out the action is a four-rounder between giants Skyler Anderson (2-1, 1 KO) and Dan McGarry (3-5-2). Both fighters stand at 6’7” and weigh over 250 lbs.

The card is being presented by Moe Smith & Mario Falciani in conjunction with the Couer d’Alene casino. The action starts at 7 PM and tickets may be purchased at the casino box office.

i disagree--he didnt take much punishment as a heavy---mesi outboxed him a little and was beating him and vassily nearly killed him at the end of the fight..also he was whipping moorer but just got caught with a good shot........againt norris he was unmotivated and out of shape and came up with a stinker...i think he can make some noise again at cruiser--there arent any real good fighters at that weight...he can be champ again

    Agreed 100% on that.

The question is Angel Eyes...will he be able to compete @ Cruiser now?

Hmmm, Maybe not. I think he will be champ by early 2007.

Good move I think his body frame wasn't right for Heavyweight, Orlin Norris started as a HEAVY THEN DROPPED DOWN TO CRUISER and won a title, and Jirov is a more skilled fighter then Norris.

I heard he had a tough fight. I think Jirov is unmotivated abd should stop fighting unti he gets that hunger back. And a fight with Guillmero Jones Steve Sunningham winner could do that.
