In something of an upset, promising super featherweight contenderJose"The Punisher" Perez Jr. was knocked out by Hector Leyva, a fighter with a record of three wins against three losses. Perez, who was trying to secure interest with a major promoter was 7-0 going into the bout at the Radisson Hotel in Sacramento, California on Friday night and at twenty-two-years-of age, had already secured a television spot on an ESPN broadcasted show. Leyva ended the fight in the second round and with it, much of the hope that surrounded Team Perez and the chances that Jose Perez Jr. might transcend the developmental stages of his professional career and become a notable fighter.
