WBA Update: Duran, Sturm, Braehmer, Pulev, Capuccino

Former world champions Roberto “Hands of Stone” Duran and Felix Sturm are among the special guests at the World Boxing Association directory meeting to be held in Bulgaria from Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 12, 2015.

Along with Duran and Sturm will be champions Juergen Braehmer, Fedor Chudinov, interim champion Jack Culcay, in addition to contender Kubrat Pulev #12 rated contender.

Also there will be promoters like Wilfred Sauerland, Frank Warren, Ricardo Rizzo, Greg Cohen, Vlad Hrunov, Gary Shaw, Philippe Fondu and Salvatore Cherchi amongst others.

The directory will comply with a day’s work to discuss different topics related to different committees and new boxing activities.

They will talk about ratings and and will listen to requests from boxers’ representatives.

On Friday there will be a WBA officials seminar to close to the activity in Europe.

WBA family joins the mourning of the death of 86 year old Frank Capuccino, who passed awayslast on Monday in the United States, and send its words of condolence to hie relatives and friends.

Cappuccino was born on February 7, 1929, and was a referee since 1958 until the year 2008 when he refereed the fight between Alvino Seferino and Shannon Anderson.

His first WBA title fight was in 1982, between Jeff Chandler and Johnny Carter.

At the time of his retirement, he had a record of 450 bouts, highlighting fights such as Mike Tyson vs. Michael Spinks (1988), Lennon Lewis vs. Shannon Briggs (1998), Micky Ward vs. Arturo Gatti (2002) and Bernard Hopkins vs. Carl Daniels (2002) among others.

He also had performed the role of referee in the movie Rocky V.
