Streaking Quebecois super middle Jean Pascal defended his WBO NABO crown last night at the Casino in Montreal, punishing American import Lafarrell Bunteng throughout their twelve round bout to take a unanimous points win.
The hard punching Las Vegas native Bunting came into the contest with the reputation of a knockout artist and caught Pascal in the fifth frame with a heavy right hand but could not capitalize.
Except for a slow first round and the fifth, Haitian born Pascal put on a boxing clinic, rattling off beautiful combinations that raked the American repeatedly but could not knock the big hearted Bunteng, 16-3-1 (16), out enroute to the victory.
With the win, Pascal improves to 16-0 (12) and continues his steady climb up the world rankings. A massive fight with crosstown Montreal rival Lucian Bute continues to brew but Pascal's handlers will likely look to gain their man more experience before trying to tackle the Romanian born "Le Tombeur".
