Thursday night at the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, WA saw IBO Feather Champ Cristobal Cruz add the vacant IBF crown to his collection with a hard fought split decision victory over Orlando Salido.
In a battle of tough luck Mexican veterans, Cruz, 37-11-1 (23), of Tijuana, managed to outwork Ciudad Obregon veteran Salido, 31-10-2 (20), after twelve rugged rounds of combat, winning two cards by a score of 116-112 each while Salido took the third by a mark of 115-113.
On the undercard, towering Russian super middle prospect Maxim Vlasov, 14-0 (5), survived a scare from Houston based slugger Don Mouton, 7-3-1 (7), to pull out an eight round majority decision victory 78-74, 77-75 and 76-76.
