Default How Long Should You Wait For The First Fight?

There's been a lot of new people coming to the gym 14, 15, 16 who are getting thrown to the ring. Without training that long were as I trained about 5 or 6 months before my first bout. Do you think it's alright to throw people in the ring within only 2 1/2 months of expirence?

A lot of the old school coaches like to sling novices into the ring to see if theyre worth there salt before they spend any serious time with them.
Id say no less than 3 months is sensible, but like you said, it can be anywhere from 2 months up. Way too soon IMO, but its a learning curve.

You should have your first fight (not for a record) in the club when your absolulty positively sure you found someone that you can beat the sh1t out of. Then fight him (but dont do it)

At my gym its 1 month to spar if your good, 2-3 if your not so good. Fights after 8-12 months if you can prove yourself whenever the trainers give you tasks like combos. 1- 1 3 months if your not so good.

I boxed after 10 week, even though I won I thought it was to soon looking back. Iwont let my lot out unless theyve been in the gym 9 months, its not all about having contests. I think we try to give fighters to many examinations to soon without educating them first.

I got my first fight too early. It wasn't a contest, but it should have been so I could have gotten credit for it! haha
I got dizzy once and a couple of times I saw static, the kid hit hard.
Thank god I practiced slipping. It was too early for me, I was just lucky I trained very hard.
Now I train my neck everyday in training, so I can take better punches. I keep my hands MORE up. And now I know what to do if someone has a great straight right, other than slip. I did have killer instinct, but it was useless because I left myself open when I unloaded. Things like that a good trainer will let you know beforehand. It's my personal opinion that blocking makes a fighter have confidence and get comfortable to fight back efficiently. So this month I'm concentrating on that.
