JEFF LACY A BIG FAVORITE OVER PETER MANFREDO
    By Matt Goldstein

In what will be a 10 round Supermiddleweight bout between former 168lb title holder Jeff Lacy and season 1 Contender star Peter Manfredo, Lacy is considered a 5-1 favorite. Considered a comeback fight for both fighters, the loser of this bout will most likely find themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to big fights accompanied by premium TV broadcast purses. Jeff Lacy has recently signed with Golden Boy Promotions and is coming off of a shoulder injury which sidelined his boxing career for exactly one year. Lacy won the vacant IBF Supermiddlweight title off of Syd Vanderpool and had successful defenses against Omar Sheika, Rubin Williams, Robin Reid and Scott Pemberton. The only loss of Jeff Lacy’s career was a shutout against undisputed champion Joe Calzaghe. Considered a devastating puncher, Lacy now has a professional record of 22-1 with 17 knockouts. Peter Manfredo was a finalist on the Contender Season 1 and lost in the finals against Sergio Mora. In a rematch, Mora won a controversial split decision. Also with a blowout loss to Joe Calzaghe, Manfredo does have wins over Alfonso Gomez, Scott Pemberton and Joey Spina. Manfredo now has a professional record of 28-4 with 13 knockouts. I personaly am picking Lacy to win a UD in a very one sided fight. Althought, I think Lacy can even knock Peter Manfredo Jr., out.
And with that being said, adios Peter Manfredo Jr.,

I hope Lacy has a great come back

Would be much worse for Lacy

Manfredo could probably recover cause he's got the Contender following and a pretty good local following and most people think he's gonna lose anyway.

It is a bigger loss to Lacy because since the Calzaghe fight he has been almost forgotten as is....a loss to Manfredo would almost guarentee he is sent to the abyss of boxing

As Ouma Fan said, it'll be alot worse for Lacy if he can't beat this guy. If Lacy loses I don't know where that would put him except close to the bottom of the barrel. I personally hope he ktfo Manfredo, though I'm sure he'll come back and get a shot at Kessler or Miranda. I'd like to see Andrade beat the shoes off Petey.

I fancy Manfredo to win this one as we found out when Lacy fought Calzaghe he has no plan B he is a 1 dimensional come forward fighter just hunting the KO.

It won't be technically the end for either fighter, but it will certainly tarnish their future televised fight opportunities (whomever loses). There's a lot on the line for a 10 rounder.

Totally agreed. Lacy especially will lose alot of credit if he loses this or even looks bad. I think he needs to win and win big.I'm interested to see if he has improved or is the same fighter as before. I actually think he is a heck of an exciting fighter and hope he wins.

I pretty sure lacy is finished either way. Calzaghe finished him. Couldnt believe what i saw when watching him fight typsko. Typsko beat him bad, lacy did nothin, but the judges saved lacy. Will be a super match up though, manfredo is a good guy, i'd say he's ready for it.

Jeff Lacy was finished as soon as Calzaghe exposed him. His last fight against Typsko was absolutly awful having said that he should ease past Manfredo who is really a glorified club fighter who is clearly out of his depth at this level. Hell if Lacy has diminished as much as i think he has we could have one hell of a fight on are hands.

If Lacy loses to Manfredo, then he better retire. But then again...Calzghe gave Lacy such a career ending beating ,that it would be no surprise if Manfredo. The Lacy pre-Calzaghe would have killed this kid but now... who knows..
