    Default Kostya Tszyu

Kostya is one of my favourite fighters and I must have watched each of his fights a hundred times.

I seen a lot of his amateur bouts and noticed something yesterday...he still fought like one as a pro a lot of the time.

Does anyone understand what I mean? I'm a bit pissed up but this just occured to me..

    Agreed.

Not sure what it is meant that he fought like an amateur, but if boxing had a few more guys like Tszyu then I wouldn't worry to much about the sport. He's one fighter I've definitely missed the last couple years even though I was never a giant fan of his when he fought. I felt the same way about Reggie Miller if that tells you anything.

You mean that extended Jad just kind of hanging there In his early days.Sometimes he seemed so rigid.Hell, I loved watching him come up and throughout.Still think Hector Lopez Boxed his ears .Hurtado fight was amazing. He was also a seemingly a really nice guy....Remember telling Jim Gray "Please dont be rude, Respect ....". That was classic

Oh yeah it did, but he never really changed once he turned pro seeing as it's a whole different kettle of fish to fighting amateur.

I love the fact he was a reasonably small guy at 140 but could still put opponents to sleep with one shot. He was a great finisher also. Once he had a guy hurt early they rarely had a chance for the rest of the fight.

It'd be awesome to see im in against some of the current crop of 140 guys.

I think it is a great shame that boxing fans never saw Tszyu face DLH, Mosley or Mayweather. I'm not even sure we saw the best of him anyway, probably the years 99-02 were his peak as a pro and he did unify the division.
Nearly half of his pro fights were against World Champions so his record speaks for itself IMO. Definitely a top 3 Jr Welter of all time.

Tszyu is the kind of fighter you miss once he's gone. He brought soo much to the ring when he stepped in. You knew something was bound to happen that would make the fight memorable.

IMO top 5 Jr. Welters of all time.
