Default Miguel Cotto Speaks On Margarito Decision

Cotto on Margarito decision! | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7

Here is Miguel Cotto’s reaction regarding the California’s State Athletic Commission revoking Antonio Margarito’s boxing license: “California’s Boxing Commission evaluated the case and made a decision. They have necessary evidence to judge [Margarito and his trainer] according to their rules. I think that my future won’t be affected by this decision. I will continue with my training for February 21 and I’m focused on winning the title against Michael Jennings and bringing another championship to Puerto Rico.”

The damage to Cotto has to make me think something was up. I don't think this was the first time A.M. and his corner pull something like this.

I think hes a good, honest guy...he can seem kinda dull in his interviews and statements, but he doesnt seem to like talking to the media much as he is a family man and I can respect that.

Surely now that Margarito has been banned for a year and assuming Cotto beats Jennings then a rematch with Mosley must happen now to prove who the undisputed welterweight champion is?
I honestly think Mosley would beat Cotto in a rematch, there first fight I scored very close but with a Cotto win and I think Mosley left it too late in the fight to pressure Cotto and as Margarito proved that is the way to beat Cotto. Pressure!

Cotto is a humble guy, and has rarely said anything bad about anyone.

As for Margarito he got off easy....sorry you can seriously hurt someone or even KILL them in boxing WITHOUT cheating like this....I wouldn't have minded if Margarito was banned from boxing altogether

I said Margarito should have gotten a 3 year ban, but that seemed extreme to some. I agree with you: that plaster stuff could have killed Mosley

Cotto has always been class, and being so close to a fight he doesnt need any distractions or to be a part of a controversy.

I do think the loss prob. messed with his head. It would explain the tattoos somewhat as a need to make changes and try new things. Looking forward to his fight and hope to see him regain the confidence and respect he imo deserves.

I wouln't give Margarito a rematch tho. I wouldn't give Margo anything or any kind of reward for being a cheat. Whether he did it in only one fight or not. But ya, I guess I'm fairly bitter about it.
