Default A great article on Maxboxing regarding PED Usage

Max Boxing - Main Lead - The PED Mess: Part One

The more I learn about the underbelly of boxing the more I wonder as to how it still left standing? Good God.

On a side note, I strongly recommend you guys read all the way to the bottom of the article, there are some very fucked up (excuse my language) things going on.

That is just silly if it is true. Lawyers are making a killing in all of these instances though

If this Gabriel Montoya guy is who I think he is, he's a complete nob. I remember seeing one of my boxing friends from Repton on FB having an argument with him on a status he'd made public. I can't remember exactly what he'd said but 95% of people were calling him out on how unreasonable and biased it was.
He despises Mayweather with an absolute passion and has a huge crush on Pacquiao. I made a point which he didn't like (but everyone else seemingly did) so he furiously tried to counter it and when I didn't reply within 5 minutes he called me out saying I knew I was wrong, that's why I hadn't responded haha he's a pathetic douche with his own agenda.

He is the only guy that I've heard from about Floyd testing positive 3 times... Trying to make headlines.

It is damaging to Golden Boy.

What boxing needs more of is transparency with regard to drug testing. I don't know what's worse, Top Rank refusing to take a stance on the issue, or Golden Boy's shady stance on the issue? Have the British promoters come out with opinions on drug testing in boxing?

Has Floyd Mayweather come out with an opinion on Golden Boy's relationship with USADA? Has he come out against their actions in the Morales situation? With regard to Mayweather, if what the article alleges is true, primarily that USADA and Golden Boy have a relationship such that if a boxer tests positive, those tests won't be revealed, than isn't the testing futile?

It should be noted that so far the only boxer, including Mayweather, that adheres to strict year-round testing is Nonito Donaire.

This was written by Thomas Hauser, not Gabriel Montoya.

Here's part two of the piece, since it wasn't posted yet.

Max Boxing - Main Lead - The PED Mess: Part Two

It gets even fishier. I rememeber when Oscar started GBP, he said he wanted to clean up boxing. hahahaha...... They seem just as dirty as any other promoter, if not worse.

I feel bad for Robert Guerrero, his own promoter GBP, put him in a bad position in order to help Berto, someone that is not under contract with them, but of course is an Al Haymon boy.

Golden Boy, Al Haymon, and the USADA have a lot explaining to do if you ask me.

Yes but he quotes information apparently discovered by Montoya. Seriously, if you saw this guy making his ridiculous posts that day on FB you'd discredit any article that cites him as a source. Biased sports journalism pisses me off and this guy takes Floyd VERY personally for some reason.

It was the first time too that I've ever heard someone mentioning Floyd tested positive but that's not the part that remotely interests me. It was what happened in the Winky Wright fight that really made my hackles rise.

P.S Thank you for posting the second part as it was published today and I was gonna do it but forgot :P

I am assuming you don't know who Thomas Hauser is then?

in his report he always says that it was alleged that Floyd was taking PED's and he never said he personally believed it, he is quoting a source. Moreoever let is not have that Floyd comment overshadow the most important part of his thesis.

He is saying that USADA is either incapable, inept, or corrupt. He is saying Commissions are not taking these as seriously as they should and most of them don't know that on fight night test seldom do anything to detect any PEDS in the fighters system.

He is saying that Golden boy has a little too cozy relationship with USADA and that they shun VADA because of its more stringent testing and also because of what happened to Peterson (probably because they couldn't do with it as they did with Morales testing positive 4X in a row)

The Floyd comment is of minimal consequence in the general scope of this article.

Long story short, if you believe that PED's aren't a huge part of boxing (like they are with any other modern sport), you're living in a fantasy world. The reality is that most of your favorite boxers are cheating.

Call me gullible but boxers are innocent until proven guilty and even then the ones that are caught have innocent explanations like Berto.

If you have doubts, check out the Joe Rogan podcast with Victor Conte, the BALCO guy who spent years helping guys like Holyfield and Mosley cheat and get away with it.

PED's are almost a necessity now adays.

I too hate to damn every boxer who's been under strange circumstances but testing Morales 4 times until he passed the test is just disgusting. What if he would have killed Garicia? I know its far fetched but its a sport in which every punch does damage, would USADA people be charged with criminal negligence and Morales with manslaughter?
