I'd never heard of Rodriguez honestly, just youtubed his last fight against Denis Grachev. Good result, but the guy seems crude as all hell and shouldn't present any kind of problem for ward from what I see. I never thought Grachev was actually good and probably flattered himself with the Silakh and Bute fights.
Here's the link to that fight for anyone interested.

Any word on the undercard? That date is my birthday and the Citizens areana aint too far!
The key is Self-discipline.
Like others said, I think it's a good fight given it's a "comeback" fight after a serious injury and layoff. But obviously not a fight anyone is gonna be knocking doors down to see.
Rodriguez is a 2nd tier fighter but still a respectable opponent considering Ward is coming back from a layoff.
I dont see Ward having any trouble with this guy.
Andre Ward will want the fight to be in Oakland, where his home referee will permit him to foul as much as he wants.
He'll never be warned by his shady home ref for holding:
Or for using deliberate headbutts:
The cobra will be waiting
Unless Ward comes in half assed he should really pick Rodriquez apart. Edwin is rough and tumble, wide and seem to remember him having a habit of nailing guys in the balls. He ballooned up tp about 190lbs fight night vs Escalera and had some mental lapses with Don George, but he got the job done. Nothing to lose for him here but he is going from the green turtle pool in the backyard to the Pacific Ocean with Ward. Better pack a lunch.
It is good to see Ward back the best super middleweight in the world no matter what Carl Froch says.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
