    Default Joe calzaghe..

I read this link and thought I would share it... I used to hate on Jc but I miss him now he is gone but I still feel he never really beat hopkins but got the decision due to the comments made.

I also feel he should have fought froch and possibly beat him like froch did to groves.

Read the link and let me know your real feelings on JC as he still seems to get a hard time even after beating 46 opponents.

The link isn't working for me but considering it's boxingnews24 I assume its intention is to flame the readers.

Joe C was a great fighter. I'm disappointed his best wins are against older fighters. I never thought much of Lacy so to me his best prime win is Kessler. Whether he got enough quality wins is debatable legacy wise but it is without question to me he certainly did enough to demonstrate greatness. We all should see that and I only feel sorry for those that try to argue against his ability.

Jack Johnson never had the opponents
Dempsey never had the opponents cause he never wanted them
Roy Jones never fought Eubank, Benn, Collins, Watson
Marciano probably fought in the weakest hev division in history.
Leonard waited Hagler out and then got the 168 division invented for him so he could starve Lalonde for the 175 title.
Poncho Villa waited out Jimmy Wilde
The entire era of Robinson, Ray included ducked the Murderers Row
Nobody wanted to fight Sam Langford from 160 to 200
Larry Holmes entered the weakest hev division since Marciano
Finito Lopez could have moved up
    Lets analyze Floyds career

I could go on. Give me a name and I'll question his credentials.

Joe Calzaghe dominated the super middleweight division and never ducked a soul. Its not his fault that the world could not produce any competition that could beat him. Were they that bad or was he that good? He beats anyone today at 168 pounds and SOG included. Roy was long gone to 175 when Joe was just catching stride and Hopkins was a career middleweight. He could not have fought them earlier. That is a fact, not an opinion. People reach deep with insane claims like he ducked Johnson and Ottke. Speaking of dumbest fans. Do the homework. Same with the "slappy" shit. Just dumb. I'm pretty sure Roy beats him at 168 but I think Roy beats Robinson at 160. So what? Joes the best super middleweight that ever lived. 21 defenses and was recognized as undisputed w/o the other tin by about defense 14.

Joe had a long successful career but did have some poor performances and Ottke issue but he would always have Froch number.

In all truth he faced some very good fighters, and beat them Hopkins tried to old man him, but it
did not work, Joe deserved the decision.
As for all the crap about facing Froch, there was a interview with Joe and Carl, in simple words
Joe told him if the moneys right, I will face you.
Froch has memory lose and has, forgot all about that interview a good few years back, trouble
is fighters can say one thing and do totally the opposite.
The difference is Joe Calzaghe has been top of the shit pile, but Carl Froch is just on the second
tear, as we all no top of the shit pile is Ward, weather Froch likes it or not.

Even though Calzaghe's division wasn't the greatest, just like Marciano, when you're fighting elite, world class guys for years and not losing, that's a fucking amazing accomplishment.

ATG for sure, just wish he came around a little bit later so we could have seen him against the crop of 168lbers that emerged in the years after he retired. It's a damn shame we missed out on Calzaghe/Ward.

Great fighter. Lovely to watch, boxing artistry at times, Kessler fight was a cracker, the man was an unpredictable genius in the squared circle.

Froch was offered the fight against Calzaghe twice but ducked it. He knew he would have lost.

I cant agree with that sorry Beanz , he slapped , and I didn't enjoy his fights.
Spent to much time with the nothing WBO belt for me. Then fought old men , Bika was his best clear win , as I thought he lost to B-HOP.
Also he didn't fight Ottke , who was champ at same time and retired unbeaten.

JC is the best super of all time but you have to give credit to froch for having a history of ducking NO ONE and fighting the young guns.

Difference was, Groves actually wanted to fight Froch and believed he could beat him.

Warren offered Froch a Calzaghe fight twice and Froch turned it down, twice.

Never knew it was froch at fault but either way, JC would have outboxed him.

I thought he won the bhop fight 8-4, obviously consider the knockdown too

I also think that that was bhops best opportunity to beat him, his first fight in the states and all that, bit more experience and warming to the events and all that I think he would have won more clearly

    calzaghe was a rare tallent
