    Default Apollo Creed movie

Don't know if this has been mentioned or if any of you know buuuuut Sly Stallone is in the process of making this movie starring Michael B. Jordan as the titular character and Brit fighter Tony Bellew as a fighter named "Pretty Ricky" and apparently there was a bit of a scuffle on the set recently with Bellew at the center of it.

So thoughts? Ideas? Feelings about this movie?

    Bellew!!!?

Its like having Tarver! Is he purposefully choosing fighters with crap physiques to make himself look better?

I don't know much about Bellew other than he's from the UK. Don't think this movie will involve Stallone other than in the director's chair.

.....ah so he wants to play the Cus D'Mato/Angelo Dundee/Mick Goldmill role to the young up and coming Apollo Creed. This is going to be like Ali meets Tyson I would assume, probably have Stallone's character die off right before the last big bout as is the archetypal plot twist for the hero of a movie.

You know the lot of the Rocky films, not one has floated my boat. The last one I watched a shitty stream on the net before it came out in the cinema here and its just such rubbish.

I ouldnt believe anyone would swallow Tarver as a heavyweight espeially as he was an active boxer at light heavy.

Im not sure what weight they are making this new Adonis Creed character out to be but seeing him side by side with Stallone hes not much taller if at all and doesnt look a heavyweight at all.

I wonder why they have chosen Bellew? The only thing I can think of is the thick accent and with Americans ignorance on anything none american with regards geography and naming Bellews character as Ricky that hes hoping the accent and name are reminiscent of Britains biggest export in recent years.

Did anyone ever watch The Wire? So Apollo is played by "Wallace" from the first season, time flies huh

I don't get Bellew either really, seems a bit dull and he doesn't look menacing, but it might work. I thought Tarver in the last one was ok I think..

    Mixed feelings about this one

Most of you know how big a Rocky fan I am so I fear the worst.

I went to an evening with Stallone in Sheffield in January - a member of audience quizzed him on why the film is happening.

Stallone insisted it was a spin off and Rocky is just a bit part player - though did say Rocky is now a loner and everyone's gone from his life ?!? Guess that means Paulie is dead now too

    So let's just see
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate

Well Stallone himself is only like 5'4 or something ridiculous and he was 154 pounds during the filming of Rocky IV, so Tarver as a heavyweight I wasn't worried about.

Now this is going to be Apollo growing up as a boxer, learning the ropes from his wizen old marble mouthed trainer, and so I reckon it'll be kind of a period piece seeing how in 1976 Apollo fought Rocky in their first fight and Apollo was dominant at the time so dominant they didn't know who to get him to fight next ergo the Rocky story. So this SHOULD take place in the 1960's at the very latest so the fighters were smaller then so Bellew I believe could pull off heavyweight....Stallone knows how to make these movies, I figure he's got it sorted out alright
