Hatton Begins Quest To Set Things Right Tonight

Ricky ‘Hitman’ Hatton makes his comeback tonight after a three year break, during which he retired.

A devastating defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao in 2009 was – by the likeable Mancunian’s own admission – not the start of his problems, but the rollercoaster ride that followed, which saw some very public lows mixed with some promotional highs, had Hatton struggling to keep his depression in check while striving to be a top class Promoter and trainer.

“As a man – I just fell apart”, Hatton admitted, “I feel I need to redeem myself”.

It doesn’t matter that his (still) adoring fans, friends, family and the boxing community know that he has nothing to prove – Ricky believes he does. “I still feel there’s one more journey for me – and that’s to make up for all the bad things”.

Hatton will be facing Ukrainian – Vyacheslav Senchenko in a ten round Welterweight Contest at Manchester’s MEN Arena. The taller boxer with a snappy jab lost his WBA Welterweight Belt to Paulie Malignaggi in April this year by ninth round TKO.
Both Hatton and Senchenko weighed in at 10 stone 6lbs 10 ounces on Friday, at Manchester’s Town Hall.

But, the Hatton v Senchenko fight isn’t the only tasty morsel on a packed ‘Hatton Promotions’ show billed as ‘Pride in Battle’. There are four Title fights which promise to be just as exciting:

Rendall Munroe (Leicester) v Scott Quigg (Bury)
Interim WBA World Super-Bantamweight Contest

Sergey Rabchenko (Minsk, Belarus) v Cedric Vitu (Creil, France)
Vacant WBC Silver Light-Middleweight Title
EBU (European) Light-Middleweight Title

Gary Buckland (Cardiff) v Stephen Foster jnr (Salford)
BBBofC British Super-Featherweight Title

Martin Murray (St.Helens) v Jorge Navarro (Venezuela)
Interim WBA World Middleweight Title

‘Pride in Battle’ is screened live on Primetime and starts at 7pm
