Steven Pearce (Stourbridge) v Sam Eggington (Stourbridge)
BBBofC Midlands Area Welterweight Title (10 x 3 Minute Rounds)
Steven ‘The Fierce’ Pearce suffered a seventh round defeat at the hands of Sam ‘The Savage’ Eggington. Hitting the canvas in round two – Pearce struggled to get in to any rhythm during subsequent rounds. The fourth was particularly challenging for him and he looked like he might not survive the frame but then rallies round in the fifth and looks like he might be starting to pull something back. In the seventh though, Pearce hits the canvas quite heavily and the fight is stopped. He was given oxygen by attending paramedics but stood up for the official decision.
Popular Sam Eggington wins the Midlands Area Welterweight Belt. His record improves to 5 wins (2 by KO) and 1 loss (Prizefighter Tournament)
Pearce drops to 7 wins (2 by KO) and 2 losses (2 by KO)
Chris Male (Dudley) v Elemir Rafael (Slovakia)
6 x 2 Super-Featherweight Contest
Male targeted Rafael with body shots but it was a messy contest with lots of grappling between these two. In the fifth round, Rafael slips slightly in his own corner and Male takes advantage – piling on the pressure as the Slovakian falters.
The Dudley man gets the points win 60-54 and improves to 12 wins (2 by KO) and 1 loss while Rafael drops to 24 wins (3 by KO) 67 losses (20 by KO) and 1 draw.
Andrew Robinson (Redditch) v Jody Meikle (Scunthorpe)
4 x 3 Light Heavyweight Contest
Another messy fight! Robinson faced awkward Meikle – who as usual provided the nights entertainment (!) Robinson was having some trouble with his groin protection which looked like it could have protected his chest at one point (!)
Robinson wins on points 40-36 and improves to 6 wins (2 by KO) while Meikle drops to 5 wins (1 by KO) 32 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.
Kyle Spencer (Kingswinford) v Dee Mitchell (Birmingham)
4 x 3 Light-Middleweight Contest
Spencer began to pressure Mitchell in round two of this four rounder. He caught the Birmingham man with two or three head shots in succession, but took a few him-self during the bout.
Spencer wins on points 40-36 – his record now stands at 6 wins (1 by KO) while Mitchell drops to 9 wins (2 by KO) 34 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.
Ashley Lane (Northampton) v James Ancliff (Leeds)
4 x 3 Featherweight Contest
This one got off to a bloody start when a clash of heads resulted in a cut to Northampton man – Lane. Ancliff takes a count in the second round having taken a hefty shot and is allowed to continue despite looking less than steady. At the end of that round – Ancliff goes back to his corner with his left eye cut and both men are bloody by the end of the third. Ancliff pulls out of the contest while sat on his stool at the end of the third round – citing the nasty cut.
Lane wins by third round TKO and improves to 4 wins (1 by KO) 3 losses (2 by KO) and 2 draw.
Ancliff’s record now stands at 11 wins (2 by KO) 25 losses (9 by KO) and 3 draws.
