Marco Antonio Barrera proved to have just too much experience at the MGM Grand tonight, masterfully handling a very good fighter in Australia’s Robbie Peden to add the IBF belt to his trophy cabinet. Barrera was already the WBC Champion and will likely attempt to unify all three titles in his next bout. The Mexican legend was put back on his heels in the first as the durable Peden sought to impose his will on the 65 fight veteran but before too long Barrera had found the range on his counter shots. After the initial aggression, Peden settled into looking for opportunities but Barrera simply did not present many to the fiery Aussie and went on to dicatate the pace. Barrera looked to be on his way to a stoppage but just ran out of time
as he had Peden reeling in the 12th and final round.
