British Boxing Results: Chisora, Fury, Skeete, Buglioni In Action

British Heavyweights Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury had a successful night on Saturday at the Copper Box Arena, London.
Londoner – ‘DelBoy’ Chisora, successfully defended his WBO and WBA International Heavyweight Titles by Unanimous Points victory (118-109; 118-109; 118-110) over Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia.

Chisora landed a big right to the top of Johnson’s head in round five but the American jumped back up to see out the rest of the round. The fight goes the distance and Chisora gets the points win.

Tyson Fury (now of Palm Beach, Cannes) had endured a challenging week, but looked relaxed as he faced Joey Abell of Minnesota. Using his long-reaching left jab, Fury looked to land the big right on southpaw Abell.

Abell lands a dangerous left shot in round one and again in round two which sees Fury’s head rocked back. Abell is warned for use of the head just moments later then starts to unload shots in the closing seconds of round two.

A clinch in the middle of round three sees Referee Jeff Hines separate the two boxers but Fury ‘sticks’ in a shot to the stomach of Abell as they part and the American goes to one knee. ‘Keep your shots up and listen,’ Referee Hines tells Fury.

With one minute of the round remaining Fury lands a right which floors Abell. Fighting resumes, but a left followed by a right sends the visitor to his knee once again, right on the bell to end the third frame.

In the first minute of round four, Abell catches Fury with a right which causes the former Cheshire man to take a step back, but as ‘payback’ – Fury responds with his own attack and Abell has to take a knee again.

The American lands a shot just seconds later but goes to the canvas for the fourth time mid-way through round four. He gets to his feet but Referee Hines waves the contest off.

Fury wins by fourth round stoppage.

Also on the Frank Warren Promotions fightnight, Bradley Skeete of Penge, London, won the vacant WBA Inter-Continental Welterweight Title by Unanimous Points decision (120-108; 119-109; 117-111) over Frenchman Christopher Sebire.

And Frank Buglioni of Enfield, London, successfully defended his WBO European Super-Middleweight Title by fifth round TKO over Italian Gaetano Nespro. Nespro was on the canvas three times before the fight was waved off.
