At Oldham Sports Centre last night, Steve Wood – VIP Boxing Promotions, hosted a show which featured six contests from local boxers. The main bout being a six round Featherweight contest which saw the home boxer – Artif Ali suffer a points defeat to Bobby Jenkinson of Lincoln. Both men were busy – but Jenkinson looked really motivated and Ali seemed to lose heart after the first round despite still landing some decent head shots during the fight.

Jones was caught by a right to the head midway through the opener and had to hold on briefly. He came out for round two better but was caught again in the third minute. Schofield had some slight (left) eye damage in the third round, but gets his first pro win on points 40-36

Andy Colquhoun (Liverpool) v Kristian Laight (Nuneaton)
6 x 3 Lightweight Contest
A lack of spark in this contest till the fourth round when Colquhoun ‘upped the ante’ and landed some decent shots to secure the points win over ‘Mr.Reliable’ Laight.

Zelfa Barrett (Manchester) v Joe Beedon (Swindon)
4 x 3 Super-Featherweight Contest
Barrett scored a first round KO of Beedon who was floored after just 52 seconds of the opener.
