At the Kings Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, last night, Carl Greaves Promotions in association with Scott Lawton and Impact Boxing hosted a show which featured six professional contests.
In the main event – Josh Groombridge of Uttoxeter stopped Rob Brown of Bulford, Wiltshire, in round three of a scheduled six round Super-Middleweight Contest with Brown having been on the canvas four times in total, his nose bloody from the second frame. Groombridge, who sustained a nick to the corner of the right eye, wins by TKO round 3.
The night included two impressive performances by debutants Liam Berrisford and Kaash Buttery.
Results as follows:
Josh Groombridge (Uttoxeter) v Rob Brown (Bulford, Wiltshire)
6 x 3 Super Middleweight Contest
Groombridge wins by third round TKO
Rhasian Earlington (Newcastle-under-Lyme) v Dmitrij Kalinovskij (Klaipeda, Lithuania)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest
Earlington on points 40-37
Jamal Le Doux (Hanley) v Kamil Al Temimi (Aberystwyth, Wales via Poland)
4 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest
Debutant Temimi touched down on the canvas briefly in round one but put up a good fight against Le Doux who notches up win number two on points 40-35
Aron Canning (Wrexham, Wales) v Darren Snow (Dinnington, Yorkshire)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest
Snow was on one knee almost immediately after boxing commenced. There was an onslaught from Canning and Snow was down again from a body-shot – holding his left side in visible discomfort. Referee Kev Parker counted him out while on the canvas but he was able to get up soon after.
Canning wins by round 1 TKO
Liam Berrisford (Debut)(Meir, Stoke-on-Trent) v Jamie Quinn (Stockport)
4 x 3 Lightweight Contest
Lovely boxing from debutant ‘Bezzer’ – nicely picking shots, although distance was slightly ‘off’ in round one which he seemed to correct for the second round. Facing tough opposition – he landed some nice body-shots and will be one to watch with interest.
Berrisford gets his first pro win, on points, 40-36
Kaash Buttery (Debut)(Burslem) v Fonz Alexander (Newark)
4 x 3 Super-Lightweight Contest
Another ‘keen’ debutant – Buttery looked good and fast as he faced experienced Alexander.
Buttery gets the win on points 40-36
