It might have been yet another rainy day but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the Stoke crowd at the Kings Hall on Saturday night.

The Carl Greaves Promotion (in association with Impact Boxing) hosted a show which featured six contests of local boxers.

The main event saw Liam Berrisford of Meir outpoint last minute opponent Naheem Chaudhry of Blackburn over six rounds of Super-Lightweight action (60-54).

Undercard bouts included a tough six rounds for Jamal Le Doux of Hanley against awkward Eric Nwankwo of Portsmouth. A dangerous puncher – Nwankwo had success with head shots in the fourth but Le Doux picked it up in the fifth round. Looking tired – Nwankwo succumbed to Le Doux’s advances and, under pressure, was stopped by Referee Kevin Parker in 2.41 minutes of round six.

Other Undercard results:

Luke Jones (Chasetown) v Waqas Mohammed (Birmingham)
4 x 3 Lightweight Contest

Jones wins on points 40-36

Ben Eland (Ollerton) v Fonz Alexander (Newark)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Eland wins on points 40-36

Aron Canning (Wrexham) v Elvis Dube (Derby)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest

A close contest with Canning winning on points 39-37

James Biddulph (Biddulph) v Qasim Hussain (Sheffield)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Biddulph wins on points 39-37

Before boxing commenced Ten bells rang out for former Stoke middleweight boxer, Larry Parkes, (17 wins 4 losses, 1952-1954) who passed away 8th June aged 88.
