Scotney and Roman ready for WBA Intercontinental belt fight – World Boxing Association

British Ellie Scotney will fight for the WBA Intercontinental super bantamweight belt against Argentinean Cecilia Roman. The fight will be one of the attractions in London tomorrow and both met the weight.

The 24-year-old Briton weighed in at 121.5 pounds and the Argentinean made the same weight when she stepped on the scales.

It will be another important challenge for Scotney. Last February she was crowned WBA inter-continental champion when she defeated Argentina’s Jorgelina Guanini on points. A tough fight for the Briton who, thanks to the support of her amateur past, got a title shot at the fourth professional presentation.

She will have the opportunity to make her first defense against another strong opponent. Maria Cecilia Roman has just lost the IBF 122 lbs. belt to Ebanie Bridges in March. Prior to that, Román had managed to retain her reign six times. Now he will be looking to return to the world championships.

While Scotney will arrive with a total of 4 fights won, Roman will be presented with 16 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
