Boxing Results: Kid Galahad Vs Jason Booth

ByJane Warburton 19/02/201219/02/2012

At the Magna Centre, Rotherham, England, last night – Kid Galahad won the WBC International Super-Bantamweight Title by out-pointing experienced Nottingham Boxer – Jason ‘2Smooth’ Booth.

Qatar-born Galahad – hailing from Ingles Gym at Sheffield – gave a confident performance despite going to the canvas inside the opening round! He’d had a good round up to that point – taking centre of the ring and targeting the head and central torso region, then Booth landed a sweeping left to the temple of the Sheffield man and he is forced to take a count in the closing seconds of the first frame.

Galahad has recovered by the time they come out for the second round and there’s more action from both men, but Booth is under pressure mid-way through the third. It’s a good round for Kid Galahad.

In the fourth, Galahad lands a shot to the head of his opponent which shakes Booth, but he stays on his feet and in the last forty seconds he flicks out a dangerous right.

Booth lands a decent left hook to the head mid-way through the fifth and swings another left in the closing minute. He isn’t as tidy or as busy as Galahad – but is still dangerous!

Galahad still looks fresh in the seventh – despite it being the first time past six rounds. He pressures Booth who goes for another big overhand right. It’s a busy round for both men.

A right hook sees Booth totter slightly in the eighth and Galahad is looking lighter footed than his opponent. It’s a big finish by both men!

Booth ‘goes for it’ in the twelfth and final round and laughs as he falls over on the canvas (no knockdown). Galahad still looks fresh in this final round and finishes strongly with Booth backed-up on the ropes.

Galahad gets the points win : 118-111; 120-109; 118-110, to win the Title. His record now stands at 11 wins (4 by KO) no losses.

Booth’s record now stands at 36 wins (15 by KO) 9 losses (2 by KO)

Also on the Hennessy Sports promoted Bill, ‘Lightening’ Lenny Daws (Morden) out-pointed Chris Truman (Birmingham) over eight rounds (79-75) at Middleweight.

Truman is scheduled to fight Dave Ryan for the Midlands Area Light Welterweight Title on the 31st March.

And, Chris Eubank jnr (Brighton) won his six round Middleweight Contest against Central Area Light Middleweight Champion – Jason Ball (Doncaster) on points (58-56).

The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]
