WBA Update: Klitschko, Kaovichit, Kono, Caiz

Raúl Caíz Sr will be the refereee of the World Boxing Association super flyweight title fight between Denkaosan Kaovichit and Kohei Kono at Korakuen Hall de Tokyo, Japan next Wednesday.

The fight will be for the 115 lb vacant title and will be scored by Guillermo Pérez Pineda (PAN), Stanley Christodoulou (RSA) and Pasquale Procopio (CAN). Mr. Yang Sup Shim (KOR) will supervise the actions.

Kaovichit is 62-3-1, 26 KO´s and has already been a WBA champion, so has Kono who has a record of 29-8, 12 KO´s.
Greetings to our heavyweight champion Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, who turns 38 years old today, and his World Boxing Association family congratulates and sends its very best wishes to him.

He was born in 1976 in Solnechnaya, Kazajastán. He was a very famous amateur boxer and at the age of 17 he was Junior European Champion and sub world champion and the following year, he won the gold medal at the Military Championships.
He won the Olympic Super-Heavyweight gold medal in Atlanta 1996, closing his amateur career with 134 victories out of 140 fights.

He made his professional debut in 1997, and conquered 17 consecutive victories before getting his first title opportunity winning the WBC title when he defeated Marcus McIntyre by KO.

On July 17, 1999, Wladimir won the World Boxing Association Intercontinental Heavyweight title when he defeated Joseph Chingangu.

He became the WBA Heavyeight championship when he defeated British fighter David Haye, on July 2, 2011. At present he is the Super champion of the world with 61 victories and 3 loses, and 51 KO’s.

Klitschko also has a University degree and a PhD in Sports Science.

Klitschko is an example of loyalty, perseverance, perfection and most of all, total dedication to the sport. Congrats Champ!

The official weigh in ceremony for the World Boxing Association super flyweight title fight between Kohei Kono and Denkaosen Kaovichit on March 26 at the Korakuen in Tokyo.

Both boxers passed the scale test for the 115 lb division without problem, Kono marked 52.1 kilos (115 lb) and Kaovichit marked 51.6 kilos (113 lb).

Kono, 29-8, 12 KO´s, told the press in his country is confident in winning the battle, which is focused on knocking out your opponent’s turn.

On the other hand, Kaovichit, 62-3-1, 26 KO´s, said for him this fight is a challenge as if it were the last, thus he purports to show his superiority. The Thai boxer trusts his experience to defeat the Nippon and promises a KO.
The officials will be, Raúl Caíz Sr as referee, and Guillermo Pérez Pineda (PAN), Stanley Christodoulou (RSA) and Pasquale Procopio (ITA). Mr. Yang Sup Shim (KOR) will be the supervisor of the fight.
