  • Russian Roulette: Chagaev vs. Oquendo Heads To Courtroom

    A high stakes game of Russian Roulette is scheduled for next Tuesday, July 1, before Judge Kathleen Kennedy at the Richard J. Daley Center in Chicago as to the fate of the WBA Heavyweight Championship fight between Fres Oquendo and Ruslan Chagaev.

    Hitz Boxing and Square Ring Promotions are seeking an injunction against Oquendo to enjoin his participation in the bout.

    “Our legal team filed a series of papers today and there will be a hearing next Tuesday here in Chicago,” said Bobby Hitz, President of Hitz Boxing. (more…)

  • Simmons, Camacho Steal Show At Glasgow Press Conference

    Stephen Simmons and Wadi Camacho renewed their rivalry and stole the show at today’s pre-fight press conference for Friday night’s bill at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, live on Sky Sports.

    Simmons defends his WBC International Silver Cruiserweight title against Camacho, but with their bitter feud simmering for months now, it’s the personal bragging rights that both men are eager to seize come fight night.

    Don’t Mess With Chechnya: President Kadyrov Spars Ruslan Chagaev!

    Former world heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev is wrapping up training camp for his July 6 WBA championship bout against Puerto Rican veteran Fres Oquendo on Grozny, Russia.

    The “White Tyson” has done most of his preparation in the Chechen capital training not only with head coach Artur Grigorian and his manager Timur Dugazaev but also with a “political heavyweight”: Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, who is a huge boxing fan and used to be a decent amateur fighter himself.     Before he steps into the ring to face Mexican-superstar Canelo Alvarez, WBA Super Welterweight Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara worked out for the media and talked about his upcoming PPV main event on “Honor & Glory”.

    Lara on if he was surprised that Canelo took the fight:

  • Fresno Novice Hernandez Victorious Saturday At StubHub

    Fresno’s welterweight sensation, Marcos Hernandez (2-0) remained undefeated with a dominating performance against Donte Stower (0-5) winning every round to cement another unanimous decision on Saturday at StubHub Center in Carson, CA.

    “I’ve been off for a while so I wanted to shake off the rust and put on a great show for the fans,” said Marcos Hernandez. “Although I didn’t get the knockout, I won every round and pretty much dominated the fight. (more…)

  • Hitz Boxing, Square Ring File Suit Over Chagaev vs. Oquendo

    With an announced date of Sunday, July 6 for a planned WBA “Regular” Heavyweight Title bout between Chicago’s Fres Oquendo and Ruslan Chagaev in Grozny, Russia, Chicago based promoter Bobby Hitz of Hitz Boxing and his partner Square Ring Promotions have filed a lawsuit to protect their exclusive promotional rights of Oquendo.

    From his office in Chicago, Hitz discussed the legal situation at length, “A couple of days after the fight was postponed to July 6, we were contacted by Malte Müller-Michaelis, who advised Square Ring and us, that he represented Timur Dugazaev and Terek Box Event and that they had been directed by the governmental authorities in Grozny to negotiate a deal with us,” said Hitz.     In the main event of a tripleheader live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, former two-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KOs), of Gilroy, Calif., returns from a 13-month layoff to face offensive-minded, hard-hitting Yoshihiro Kamegai (24-1-1, 21 KOs), of Sapporo, Japan, in a 12-round welterweight bout.   • Pullev Next Up To Face World Heavyweight Champ Wladimir Klitschko

    IBF/IBO/WBO and WBA heavyweight super champion Wladimir Klitschko will defend his titles on September 6 against the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev. The fight against the official IBF mandatory challenger will be taking place at the O2 World in Hamburg, Germany.

    Kubrat “The Cobra“ Pulev, from Sofia, is 33 years old and 1.94m tall. The current No.1 in the IBF rankings has an outstanding record: 20 wins, 11 by KO and no losses. Since 2011, Pulev has been the IBF International Champion and became European Heavyweight Champion in 2012. (more…)

  • Boxers Face Off For “KO At The Casino” In Luxurious Monte Carlo

    The boxers at the “KO At The Casino” bill in Monte Carlo came face to face for the first time this afternoon at the glittering casino venue ahead of Saturday’s showdown.

    All eight fighters were on hand for what promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves called “a historic event”.

    The tournament is headlined by Martin Murray’s WBC silver middleweight bout against Max Bursak of Ukraine. It is Murray’s first fight in the principality and Bursak’s third, having previously both won and lost in Monaco. (more…)

  • Fresno Prospect Hernandez Signs With Advisor Al Haymon

    Fresno, California’s welterweight boxer, Marcos Antonio Hernandez (1-0), has recently signed with world renowned advisor, Al Haymon. With the addition of Haymon on his team, Hernandez will now fight on the undercard of Robert Guerrero vs. Yoshihiro Kamegai this Saturday, June 21 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

    At age 21, Hernandez stands 6’2 and was born and raised in Fresno. He had a successful armature career where he won numerous tournaments before turning pro at age 20. Trained by his father Joey Hernandez, Marcos is excited about signing with Haymon and fighting on the Guerrero vs. Kamegai undercard. (more…)
