One of the most anticipated rematches in women boxing was that of World Boxing Association multi-champions Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, who once again stole the show in the second fight on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.Â
Impressive records, extensive sporting careers, discipline, commitment, passion and dedication to boxing with a devotion that impresses everyone every time they enter the ring and the first bell rings. Two women who have gone down in history inspiring millions of girls around the world.Â
Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor not only became the highest-paid women’s boxers in the world, they also went beyond the ring and left an indelible mark on the fans, demonstrating time and again the great show they are capable of putting on with their technique, intelligence and aggression.Â
In this second edition of the Taylor-Serrano clash, the tension was equal to or even greater than in their first encounter at Madison Square Garden in New York in April 2022. The Irish fighter sought to execute her tactical plan of maintaining distance with her footwork and high punch volume, which she also brought into the fire zone when the Puerto Rican took control with her relentless forward pressure, narrowing the ring for her opponent. Both were very fast, but Serrano held the power, while Taylor dominated in punch volume.
Another fight, with a competitive rivalry, and of respect, that will accompany the collective memory forever.
The Irish boxer was the protagonist of one of the most significant events of 2024 where she had her rematch against Amanda Serrano defending the reign at 140 pounds of the World Boxing Association and is a solid reference.Â
On November 25, 2023, in a rematch with Chantelle Cameron, she became undisputed champion of the super lightweight being already the owner of the WBA lightweight crown. And a year later, at the age of 38, she showed the world that she is still the complete athlete that has made her the best athlete for her country since her amateur days.Â
Taylor has been a pioneer in her homeland when women’s boxing was a shadow within the sport of boxing. She achieved multiple medals in the amateur field, winning European, national and world championships and even the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Until making the decision to take the leap to the professional ranks, Taylor completed almost 200 fights, an uncommon number of contests in women’s boxing.Â
She debuted as a professional in November 2016 and by October 28, 2017, already with 6 rented fights, she achieved her first world crown at 135 pounds by the hand of the pioneering organization. He achieved 14 successful defenses of the WBA lightweight belt and starring in epic battles like those unforgettable ones against Delphine Persoon in 2019 and 2020.Â
As she set out to make the division jump, it was her turn to experience her first defeat in another tough fight with Chantelle Cameron . But her perseverance led her to quickly return to the gym to try one more time and that’s how she conquered 140 pounds as well.Â
Still going strong and carrying the message of faith and perseverance as a banner to inspire other women, Katie Taylor has won 24 fights with 6 knockouts and only one loss.

Katie Taylor repeated the dose against Amanda Serrano and defeated her in her second fight last Friday night to retain her World Boxing Association (WBA) super lightweight crown, in addition to the WBC, WBO and IBF versions in a great fight held at the AT&T in Arlington, Texas.Â
After defeating her in New York during 2023 in what was the fight of the year, Taylor came back to take the win in the rematch in another big showdown that will also be a candidate for the best of 2024.Â
With a reported Netflix audience of 50 million connected users during the bout, which was the co-main event of the night in the big event that featured Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in the main event, Taylor earned 95-94 scorecards from all three judges.Â
It was a very close fight with lots of exchanges and blood, especially produced by a cut on Serrano’s eyebrow due to an accidental headbutt. The Puerto Rican was conditioned by the injury but never slowed down and together with Taylor gave a great show that enhances women’s boxing.Â
Taylor received a points deduction for going with her head forward in the eighth round but was able to overcome that handicap to win a close victory that keeps her as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today.
The Irishwoman now has a record of 24 wins, 1 loss and 6 knockouts, while Serrano has a record of 47 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 31 knockouts.
